That Call you Don't Want

I got that call that you don't want today.

I've been dreading it. I hoped it would take longer.

My brothers battle with cancer is over. He's going home for hospice care.

We don't know how long he'll last but it's not expected to be long.

This is why I've been away a lot. Silly cat pictures is about all I can manage at the moment.

I'll be back.

You will be back ... we, those whose family members have been taken by cancer, are survivors. It's not an easy thing, watching and waiting and loving them. Well loving is easy, saying goodbye is not. You will be back. I wish for you strength and peace.

Well said tim.  Those who have not lost someone close to cancer don't really understand.  May they never understand!

I'm so sorry, James. I dread the day I'll receive that same call for my own brother. If you need to talk, vent, whatever, my PM box is always open to you.

From someone who has had to go through this trauma and understands, I wish you peace and strength to see you through these times. My thoughts and prayers are with you, try to remember the good memories they will help and hopefully bring you a little comfort in the days to come.

Thanks for your kind words.

My older brother passed away overnight.

His suffering is over. Now we have a funeral to plan.

Hold onto your family ... do what feels right for you.  xo

(ARGH- even now auto-incorrect taunts me!)

You and your family, are still in my prayers.
