We are nearly half way through the summer and you know what that means for North American people... Back to Skewl!!

I guess that is dependent on if you are a student of some level or if you are a working stiff like me :gikkle: Believe it or not, up to a few years ago I was under the impression that the primary and secondary education all over the continent was basically from the beginning of September until the following June. How wrong I was :o. From what I understand, some of the southern US they head back to school around this time of year and go to around May and then get out. I guess when you have grown up your entire life doing something one way, you forget easily that others might not do it the same way!

So here is my question since we have a worldwide audience, what is basically the school year in your next of the woods? If you don't want to say you live in Mississippi (I love spelling that state), you can say the deep south of the US. If there is a difference between primary and secondary, let us know too. I'm sure the people that live south of us in the other hemisphere have a totally different schedule than the North. What about Germany, Sweden, UK, France or elsewhere in Europe? Do you live in SE Asia or maybe the Caribbean? What about you?

We had a great week here at the GA News Blog this week. Anytime we have a author promotion it is an exciting time!!

Monday our Review Team, @spike382 in particular did a great new review. Hope you get a chance to check the story out:

Tuesday was the big day I was alluding to. Make sure you check out @northie's promotion to Signature and drop off a congrats:

On Thursday, our Anthology Coordinator, @Valkyrie came in and gave us some tips on the difference of proofreading versus editing.

Please note you have to September 1st to get in this years special anniversary Anthology entries!!

Friday we had @Aditus present a 'short winded' edition of prompts. Check them out:

Finally on Saturday, we were all attracted to a great new writing article by @Comicality:

Although we did have some caching issues here at GA over the week, know that Myr is diligently working to get this resolved, he also was busy providing us with a Word of the Day:

catchpole, pilgarlic, rictus, inviolable, acumen, neologism, evanescent

In Florida it's mid-August to the end of May or the 1st week of June for most counties. They started thus past Wednesday in my county. They get two weeks off at Christmas and Spring break is the 2nd or 3rd week of March.

Growing up in Massachusetts we went back the Wednesday after Labor Day and got out in June. We got a week off at Christmas, in February and in April.

Denmark: Basic school (year 0 to 9) started last week, ending last week of June. High school: probably the coming week until mid June. University and college: September to June.
