I kind of like them where they are. I think before a lot of people never went into the gallery, this I believe will increase the amount of hits. :)

I've certainly been spending more time looking in the gallery since that showed up. But I've heard some people from the "it takes up too much space" camp and I wanted to get a feeling for where the general membership is on it.

Is there an option to put in a minimize button?

I like the idea of having the gallery displayed on the first page, but I'd prefer it if it could be moved to the side, rather than being the first thing you see.

It is there as part of the new "hook" system. There will be a lot of modifications available soon, I should think. Right now, we are stuck with default. So I can either leave it on or turn it off.

B) .........I like it, but Drewbie's suggestion sound like a good option!

It would be better either

(A ) UNDER the main forums

(B ) With a minimize button

(C ) Off

In that order of preference

Yep, I like it but would understand if some people didnt. Optional would be best :). An optional which remembers your settings, too, so people wouldnt have to minimise it every time they refreshed the page.

I very much agree. Ideally it should be something optional that each user can decide for themselves. Since Myr indicates currently there is no way to make it optional and it's either on or off, I would have to say my preference is for it to be off.

I also agree with WriteByMyself that a better option (which I'm sure isn't possible as of yet) would be to move it underneath the main board. Personally speaking I would most like to see it there and would probably leave it there if I could move it. As is, I'd probably turn it off because it's annoying where it is; however, I do kind of like having it, just not there. So yeah, moving it would be best, but either way I think having the option of having it on or off would be an improvement.

As I said, since none of these things are likely realities my (conflicted) vote is for off.

Take care all :)

The only problem I can see with it as it is now is that with the images of recent visitors also loading at the top of the page, the site is overloading with image downloads which slows the page loading terribly.

I like it but you could also move it to the side or have like a user drop box to minimize what they dont want to pop up on the site when they log on. Kinda like what mypace and facebook does if you can do that, that is. But, i will say it hasnt slowed up my computer form loading the page.

When I first pulled up the new forum, there were some drawings on there that were really really well done. Aikirangel did them. Make sure you check them out.

Anyway, I was mindful of the "porn" rules on GA, and while these could only fall into that category if Sarah Palin was evalutating them (maybe she'll be able to do that with all the spare time she's going to have :P ), I'm worried that if we have the gallery up front and center that it will force the admins to tighten the restrictions on what is posted. And that would be a shame.

That being said, I like it. And I really really really like the cute picture of Myr and Jan.

Okay, I voted :P

Now, I'll admit it...I HATE change  so when I opened up my browser and this page with all the pictures came up, my first thought was, "where is My GA"

Of course, with all things new, I just needed to give it a little time so I could adjust :D now i kinda like it there :2thumbs:

I'd prefer they not be there (no offense to anyone whose pictures are in the rotation). But, if the only options are 'off' or 'on' and the majority want to keep them, I'll just have to learn to live with it.

Hmm, I like the pictures there, if it encourages more people to post pictures in their galleries. Its kind of like a hosting mechanism for the Photography minded people on the sight and there are quite a bit.

So I'll say, keep it turned on for now...

Well, I'm not a photography minded person, and I don't like change, but I do like the pictures on the front page. I would prefer them at the bottom, though, if that were an option, but they are ok where they are. I'll get used to them there. The changes, with the exception of the missing chat, are nice, Myr.

Working on the Chat Lugh, as it clearly states in the status updates.

As for porn... well... I saw those paintings as well. They were very tasteful and clearly artistic... not porn. Therefore, I left them be.

I'm with you 100%. If the images were not announced no one noticed they were there, unless you are as curious as I :P But now we see them firsthand. So, yeah, I like the way it is now.

You know, I didn't think of those who are still on dial-up. You are so right about this, It would definitely make it so much slower to upload.

There are people still on dial-up? In 2009? Wow. That sucks.

Over 80% of all visitors are on broadband connections of some sort. It is only 20% that are not. I tend to follow the 80/20 rule on things.

Unfortunately, yeah, but then again, you knew that! :P there are areas where fast speed connections are still not available. My county for example, we are the very first farm outside the city limits and have the benefit of DSL through the phone co., but those who live in the more rural area don't get squat! That I know of, there is at least one member (that I chat with) that will not be getting fast connection for a while.
