Mark generally has models for his characters- Tony Dow is the basis for the Hayes look, for example- but I thought it might be interesting to ask how YOU picture the characters. I'll start. Actor Ryan Devlin is how I picture Mark in On the Mark. Of course, at this point he's too old to play teenaged Mark, but I think he'd be a damn good mid-20's to early 30's Mark. I've got Mark pictured as having a narrow, triangular face that's cute, very whitebread, and endearingly dorkly. You described JJ as having the Crampton good looks, if I recall. With Bitty having a blond father, and Jim either being blond or having blond hair in his family, I think it makes sense for JJ being blond. I could EASILY see a middle school version of this guy getting picked on for being cute in a femme way.

I've been watching youtube clips of Psycho Derek and it struck me that Matt Barr looks close to how I picture Lark in my head.

George Granger is 20, Matt Barr(the guy) is 26. Plus you gotta remember that in the 18th century, people tended to age faster- especially when you consider that George Granger is already married with two kids and has been through a lot of war. I can't imagine George would look all that young. But hmm, that's an interesting take. I was thinking Lark because I'm positive that Mark mentioned Lark having a long Dutchmen's face...I never would have considered Granger. As for photoshop...it would change his hair, but it wouldn't take away the obvious Russian/Eastern European look there. Dude's gotta look WASP.

Probably that random hook-up Brad had with some surfer named Jan, I think. So what about Sterling Knight for JJ? I keep thinking he hits pretty close- right facial shape, sharper features, right hair color, and the right air of being cute but in a really young and almost feminine way while at the same time looking like he belongs to a WASP family. And he has the same deal of looking much younger than he actually is- I picture JJ being the type of guy who gets carded for an R-rated movie when he's 22. Much like this guy would if he weren't a Disney star. You were thinking Jesse McCartney, but I'm thinking Jesse McCartney looks too All-American-boy-next-door and jock-ish for JJ. Our mutual buddy Dallas kinda agreed with me on that, saying JJ's a little too prissy to look like Jesse McCartney. Jesse McCartney would fit Drew better, actually. I also like your Lark although I used to picture Lark a lot shorter and somewhat less athletic, and with a slightly squarish face. In other words, not nearly as handsome. But he has something Lark-y about him

Well, that's kind of why I picked him...he's got a rugged look about him as if he'd been at sea for quite some time, he has a strong face and looks like he could command a ship. If you gave him a baby face I would think the crew wouldn't take him as seriously....I wouldn't call him pretty though, not exactly like George Granger was described.

But he has something Lark-y about him Sterling Knight is on a Disney show called Sonny With A Chance. Horrid show, but he's actually pretty good on it. He was also in Seventeen Again with Zac Efron as well. Pretty cute guy, and I thought about it and was like, "You know, he actually would make a better JJ than Jesse McCartney would." Bonus is that his body type actually seems better suited for figure skating anyway. Matt Barr is on this CW show called Hellcats, but he's best-known for his role as Pyscho Derek on the teen soap One Tree Hill. He did batshit crazy extremely well. I'm not normally into that whole Nordic blonde look, but damn he's hot.
