Site Administrator Popular Post Cia Posted August 12, 2012 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted August 12, 2012 So, during the insanely long car ride with my dad and stepwitch to her family get-together, it just came out. Oh, well this bi kid (14) in the town they live in is just a normal guy, huh? That attitude made me grab what little bit of courage I had and mention that I admin here on GA, what the site really is... and oh, btw, I wrote a mm romance that is being e-published next month. Now, I didn't go into details and mention that it has erotic scenes, and I didn't mention that I'm personally bi. I wasn't going into that with the kids in the car, including my 9 year old nephew. Turns out the stepwitch had 'liked' or favorited GA on facebook apparently. Craziness. They didn't care. They asked about making money writing, and we talked about writing in general. Talk about anti-climatic! Oh well, we learn new things all the time. At almost 31 I learned my dad isn't as big of a redneck as I'd always assumed. 8
NaperVic Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Turns out the stepwitch had 'liked' or favorited GA on facebook apparently. Does that mean she might be a member? Or *gasp* comes into GA chat?
Mark92 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Thats a cool tale Cia All my friends on FB arn't gay and they are all cool with it too. Me and Stuby have it plastered on there that we are in a relationship with each other 1
Ashi Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Cool. I know, it's like anti-climatic sometimes, the coming out thing.... But at least it's out. Maybe there is a rainbow and a pot of gold waiting somewhere....
Andy78 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Wow Cia. That is great news It must have come as a shock to you though. I wonder if she has ever left a review on any of your stories
Y_B Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Oh......I thout you meant something different when you said something had slipped out, I mean since you just mentioned having been in the water and all...
Bleu Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Anti-climactic can be a good thing Not everything has to be a big show. Glad it seems to have worked out for you.
Bill W Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Congrats, Cia, and YB get your mind out of the gutter - but then where else would you put it? lol
Andrea Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Glad they were open about it and didn't respond negatively. The few times any type of non-traditional relationship has come up with my mother, I've wanted to push her out of a moving car.
Warrior1 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Congrats, I am happy for you. Slowly come out completely if you feel you (and they) are ready for a revelation like that.
joann414 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Wow, Cia, lucky for you. They were cool all along, and you did not even know. Don't you hate real life drama?
Daddydavek Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm happy for you Cia. American culture is s l o w l y shedding some of its Puritan roots and bias. But it seems for every step forward there are two steps back....
Site Administrator Cia Posted August 13, 2012 Author Site Administrator Posted August 13, 2012 She better not, Vic! I don't like the stepwitch. Dad... I doubt he'd join, lol. Though since my dad did feel it was perfectly okay to ask me earlier in the trip if my hubby and I were 'fixed' or how we were avoiding having more kids, including specific detail requests about such methods being used... maybe I should be worried he will join to find out more, LOL! Andrea! Sorry about that. I do Joann Considering my dad's favorite insult for windsurfers, the people he hates above all others in the world, included a gay slur, it wasn't unreasonable for me to think he'd not be okay with it. I didn't go into my own sexuality, but I'll get there eventually. I feel so much for everyone who does this whole hog, you know? HIs opinions on it wouldn't have really affected me, I don't depend on my dad for anything anymore, but strangely I was still worried about how he'd react and felt the need to hide it. Thanks to everyone else for the comments! I thought a little anti-drama sharing would be good. I don't think telling them as a teen would have been as well received though, so I won't consider my years of hiding as anything but smart self-preservation. OH and Bill, Yang lives in the gutter. I'd be more afraid if he was trying to climb out of it publicly! At least we always know where he is this way, can you imagine if he had the capabilities of sneaking up on us by pretending to be anything else?
Hamen Cheese Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Were you driving? Perhaps they were worried you'd dump them on the sidewalk? But really, congratulations!
