I had to look for this pic again, after I read your poem. We have barely reached spring, but you want summer already... Still, so many recipes for tomatoes and fresh fruit and vegetables, love your idea of summer, Tim. I think it's ratatouille day.

Ha! Well, that I understand. I walk around barefoot as soon as the temperature allows it, and even in winter I only wear socks (inside the house). Outside it's boots, yeah summer it is.

Have planted my tomato, basil and pepper seeds, under grow lights:

Anxiously I wait

for any sign of sprouting

and summer's promise.

@Adi...thanks for the picture!

APRIL 6

I think I cannot taste more fine

an heirloom than the Brandywine;

although for color that you see,

I like the Purple Cherokee.

For sauce, prolific Roma's best,

but some like San Marzano's zest.

I love those in small fruited mode;

Matt's Cherry needs a postal code.

A yellow pear if awfully nice,

a chance encounter to entice.

I'd really like to plant them all.

Too bad my garden's just too small.

Today I challenge you to write a poem about food. This could be a poem about a particular food, or about your relationship to food in general.  Day 6 prompt.

As promised:

Ratatouille is what it will be today,

Green, red, and yellow pepper, come out to play.

Onions, garlic, aubergines and potatoes,

Zucchini, thyme, basil, tomatoes.

Get the pan, pull out the spoon,

And the dish will be ready to taste at noon.

love all those, just hate ratatouille. .ugh

Wow, Parker, everything is right before my eye. I can almost smell it. Ahh...a real San Marzano, so good.

Lunchy Brunchy Limerick

There was an invitation to brunch

But isn't that just fancy lunch?

You said no it’s not

But as long as it’s hot

I’ll be there to munch.

There.. a relationship with food poem

My thoughts exactly, in witty words.

LOL Now I want scrambled eggs...

Just a thought. I think the last line needs more syllables for the rhythm. Perhaps "happily munch"?

Triple ugh!

Never had kippers but do not like liver ... here in SC they have this breakfast delicacy known as liver mush. Chopped liver cooked with cornmeal then cooled in a loaf pan. Once it had cooled and set it is sliced and fried.

Well, after all this heavy liver, here's a complex offering for today...thanks to Val for the prompts!

APRIL 7

"Hello, old self, familiar constant friend."
I wondered: should our interview extend
beyond our daily recap and critique
of each event and every goal I seek?

I asked myself, "Hey self, what do you think?
You want to go to town and have a drink?"
"I'll stay at home alone" that self replied.
"Which leaves me where?" I wondered as I sighed.

But now a complex quandary may arise,
for if myself may inner selves advise,
and all those myriad extra selves in turn
discuss me, soul and body, with concern,

Then what a mental babel I shall hear!
Perhaps next time I'd better stick to beer.
