Before the pandemic the traffic here was exactly as you describe. Monday the worst, Friday the easiest. It's only since the return of a lot of people to their offices that it's changed to Wednesday being the most traffic day. Of course that's only the portions of the two main roads that I travel on.

I'll have to remember to check the traffic reports on the mornings when I don't go to the casino to see where the traffic jams are that aren't caused by accidents or some other issues like road construction.

I remember when I commuted from Annapolis to Arlington and the D.C. traffic report seemed to take at least 10 minutes to listen to. It was culture shock moving to Florida and having a traffic report last about 20-30 seconds.

Ryan check with you Department of Transportation here in Ohio they have a phone app that gives traffic / weather / road delays / access to cameras that show road conditions. You might want to look for that.

THIS -- "I was only kidding" is the line used by those who know they've <beeped> up but don't have the courage to actually admit to it, and is also a way to try to make YOU feel guilty for genuinely being insulted. It is gaslighting.

Happy Halloween to you to!

I'm partial to anything with caramel in it. (Unless there's coconut in it too.. *gag*)

Have a good day everyone!

I'm a very boring candy person, like I am with most foods. My favorite is the plain chocolate Hershey's bar. In fact tomorrow I'll be heading to the grocery store to pick up bags of leftover Hershey bite size bars for 50%-75% off, depending on which store I go to.

Tonight's party I'm going as a dinosaur (in a onesie) with my AC/DC horns I picked up at one of their concerts. Justin is going as a fairy (somehow appropriate) and has wings that extend out to about 6' if he unfurls them. At least we'll be in a very large ballroom type space. Last year he did angel wings that were fixed open, that caused more issues. We have a makeup person that does whatever makeup we need. We'll do the regular trick or treat for the neighborhood kids. That ends at 8pm, then off to the party.

Just to show you how bad I am about plain old chocolate, I love the type of chocolate they have in those Easter rabbits you see everywhere. After Easter I'll run around and pick up the leftover smallest hollow rabbits. They are generally $1-$1.50 before Easter and afterwards are 25 cents. One year I bought 90 of them and stored them in the pantry for a few months, then the remainder in the fridge.

Also love those cheap $1 chocolate bars they have for every holiday with the center "picture" as the holiday character. For example at Christmas it would be Santa in the middle. I can't remember if they are 100,000,000 or 1,000,000,000 in value.

@Starrynight22 Since you like Troye Sivan so much I thought I'd post this picture from his Twitter. It's his costume for Halloween. I think the boy has gone completely nuts. It's not too bad for the board, I don't think. Oh and this wasn't just for the Twitter picture, there's videos of him at a party later with the same outfit on. His caption for the photo was "Now that Twitter has changed their rules I don't have to crop the pictures"

I'm always excited to use my "parent tax" and claim the butterfingers or the whoppers.

Thanks!   I love his pants.

But I'm old.  Have no idea who/what his costume is about. He remains pretty.

Milky Way Bar. Hands Down.  BTW, Aldi has some really good peanut butter cups, but it's a case of you can't just eat one.

i know but have you noticed, like everything else, the size is smaller but the price is still the same.
Halloween candy is just the right size to have a small piece.

Somehow, some way, you and I must be related from my mother's side of the family!

I read this and just got to laughing.

My mother would always go around to the drug stores (Peoples, Drug Fair, etc) the day after Christmas to score 1/2  price Russell Stover boxed chocolates. She did this for years and years. The reason they were 1/2 priced was because they used to have a seasonal wrapper on the box--Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, etc., so they really couldn't hold them over. She'd "stock up" and put the candy in her freezer in the basement. Eventually, they changed packaging to a clear cellophane, and the "seasonal wrapper" was a removable sleeve of cellophane that was imprinted with the specific holiday decoration. That year, she enlisted me to drive her around so she could get her Russell Stover 1/2 price chocolates. I must have had a moment of weakness, because I really hate doing this type of sale shopping and standing in long lines. We rolled into one store and found 2 employees sitting on the floor removing the seasonal cellophane sleeves from the candy and placing the candy back on the shelves. My mother asked where the 1/2 price candy was and they said that Russell Stover wasn't doing that any more. My mom was so shocked that all she could say was "That's not fair!"  It was all I could do not to start laughing out loud. We went to a few other stores and the same thing was happening. So, my mother's 40+ year 1/2 price Russell Stover candy tradition had ended, and she was not a happy camper!  Don't get the idea that she gave up on her Russell Stover.  She got her supply from gifts or she paid full price for it.

Thanks @Ryan Jones for sparking what has now become a sweet memory.

Yes, there used to be some rules about how you had to crop the picture to avoid showing any actual naked genitalia. That's gone now so Troye wanted everyone to be able to clearly see his "softie", even commented later that he could "show his long schlong" now. Not sure how many know he's Jewish, so schlong is a good term to use! I don't think his costume was supposed to be any particular character from a comic or movie.

I wish I had used that line on my kids when they were little! We just outright swiped their candy. 🤣

Whoppers were always my "go to" for movie candy. Nowadays I find myself mentally calculating the sugar and calories.... it's a pass (most of the time). I will cave occasionally and find myself unwrapping a couple of Hersheys kisses. Mmmmmm.....

I love Snocaps. I buy them at Walgreens, or the grocery store. They are $1/box. I don't know how you eat them but I like to just take 1 or 2 of them and let them slowly melt in my mouth.

This is a good reminder for me. I'm definitely not a morning person. I still need to work on being a little less growly the first couple of hours I'm up. At least until the coffee kicks in. It's hard to find the right frame of mind at 530 in the morning.

Thanks for posting these. It's good to see you back rick.

Have a nice day everybody!

Florida is filled with abundant wildlife. Lots of birds, manatees, alligators, a few panthers, wild boars, etc,.

We had a major incident happen right across the street from the corner of our property closest to my office which resulted in the Sheriff's department shutting down our whole end of the street. This meant our main entrance was not accessible for entry. I needed to open our emergency gate which is at the other end of the property, not blocked off but I don't have a clue where the extra clicker is.

So I called my maintenance guy who tells me to go down to the gate and he'll talk me through getting it open manually. I get to the gate, my guy tells me to find the breaker box behind one of the houses, open it and flip the breaker off and the gate will open.

I find the box. Open it......

And scream at the top of my lungs when a damn gecko jumps out at me.

Fricken lizards 🦎😳
