It should have been Denmark saying sne-tissemænd in the comic, Sweden is much too bashful to enjoy those sculptures. And he probably has them in the far North of the country, too, while we would never get enough snow. But otherwise it was funny. 3 5

It is also called in Irish Nollaig na mBan ("Women's Christmas") because, traditionally, Irish men take on household duties for the day. So maybe that's why Aunti Mame would be hoping for a little Christmas. My reference seemed to fit today's circumstances. In the play Mame life has taken a sudden downturn for Auntie Mame and her household with the 1929 Wall Street Crash and the loss of her fortune. In 1929 the world was turned on its head with the start of the Great Depression. In 2020 its the COVID-19 Pandemic. I like the Irish Little Christmas too. 5 1

As, and when, I ever get round to repairing it, I shall open it up to its full width again. As to what makes me less than totally happy about it, I think I should have maybe taken it in landscape format to show the full lintel... Truth be told, I'm never totally happy with any of my photographs. But I think that's a fairly common fault with most artists (if I dare use such a word to try and describe my photographic skills - or lack thereof). Thanks. I thought as much too from the lintel but still remain curious as to the why of it. I like this as it is. It brings attention to the window as it is. Including more of the lintel brings focus to the window as it was. Both are laudable but is one better than the other? Have you considered retaking the photo in landscape? Does it actually make for a better photo? You know that once you've taken that perfect photo you'll achieve something no one else ever has but then what'll ye do lad? 2 1 3

No corn but always tomatoes plus diced onion and celery. Most eateries here about add some form of sausage, typically Andouille but that isn't traditional Low Country. Plus mum doesn't care for sausage particularly one with spiciness. Including sausage is more a Gulf Coast preparation. In New Orleans Tasso ham is a common addition as well. One I like. It adds a bit of smokiness to the flavor. May I ask what makes it Chesapeake Shrimp and Grits, preparation or ingredients? 6

I'm resting now. There's still white spots on my throat, but I can swallow without pain, so I'm getting better. Glad you're slowly getting better, Gary. I'll just take this opportunity to suggest that both clochette and dughlas should try to avoid making any innuendos about the colour of the spots in Gary's throat. 3 4
