But, then again, quite a few of you did clamour for before and after pictures when I first announced that I had bought this property. Mind you, I think you may have been talking more about the house itself, rather than the garden. Here's the ladder the other side of the wall, in the neighbour's garden: Now, when I say neighbours, perhaps I should point out that both the property beside me on the main street, and the two story stone built house next to the upper garden, have stood empty for the past number of years. So the gardens of each of them are a bit overgrown, which means that I am having to clear away brambles and saplings in order to be able to find the space to safely rest the ladder against the wall. But I made a bit of progress today, and I estimate two more days work should see the main job of clearing all the overgrowth from the two sheds just about finished. Although I shall then have to decide what to do with the sheds themselves... For reference, the building you can see behind the ladder, on the other side of the wall, is the two story stone cottage in my lower garden. You can see the roof of my own house to the right of it. The met office have issued a 24 hour yellow alert for rain from tonight in my county, with the possibility of up to 50mm (2 inches) of rain. That means that it is unlikely I'll be able to get any work done outside tomorrow. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the rain won't continue for days on end. You'll notice the wall isn't actually rendered (parged) on the neighbour's side. The stonework looks to be in good order, so maybe I'll see about getting the rendering removed from my side eventually. Please keep sharing your stories of your progress, plus the pictures. I enjoy hearing about and seeing the progress you're making. 2 7

And that they got your dad a bed for the night and fed him. The results are goodish, no bone cancer but significant deterioration of his lower spine. And no, there were full so he had an ambulance trip scheduled to take him back home last night 8 1

That's a long day... hopefully once he gets back he can have a good, long rest. 1 7
Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted January 18, 2021 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted January 18, 2021 So my dentist called this morning and had me come in to check my progress, since I'm feeling so much better. Everything looked better so he went ahead with the cleaning to see how much damage the gum disease did. We were both thrilled to find out it's not nearly as bad as he first feared. So now we take a 'wait and see' approach and allow everything to hopefully heal on its own. I thought I'd be in a lot more pain after the anesthetic wore off, but so far it's been minimal. So a big sigh of relief here, that's for sure! 2 6

Popular Post dughlas Posted January 18, 2021 Popular Post Posted January 18, 2021 This morning the migraine had eased to the point of being nearly gone. Mum and I finished packing away her Christmas china then ran a few errands. Then this afternoon the migraine returned. Now that night has fallen it's even worse than the last one and I've maxed out on pain meds. I should like to cry. I'm gonna disappear for the night and hope that warm compresses provide enough relief that I can sleep. Blessed be my brothers and sisters. 2 7

Mum likes peas and knowing I'm not overly fond teased that she wanted them with dinner, so I nuked a box of Green Giant frozen ones. The quesadilla because they're fairly easy and I was hoping the capsaicin in chipotle powder might help with my migraine. 3 3

All of the current ones up to now for my 52/52 challenge have been. Perhaps this one that I took from my garden this evening? There's a lot less growth above the sheds now. And a few more of the stones on the left hand gable wall have come down... Yup. That's a winner! 4
