Actually today was the start of the work week  

Tuesday was the Australia Day holiday so I took Monday off and had a 4 day weekend

As today's a national celebration and yesterday was a personal celebration plus there being two different nations involved I think you'll suffer no ill from your chocolate cake of yesterday. However, as a precaution it might be wise to just whip up another cake to share with your overseas friends.
