I think there was an Imperial Edict to that effect. However like most of those it was a wasted effort as not even the spiders pay any attention. They just stealthly creep around in the carpet waiting an opportunity to pounce.

Well Spike Sam was the hero of the story you should read it again! With out Sam the ring would never have made it to Mordor. And the second biggest hero was Gollum because Frodo was not going to throw the ring into the fire of mount Doom and Gollum bites his finger off and falls into the lava and the ring is destroyed!

I’m not sure how that could be, but I would argue that Frodo was still the hero of the story going by the books (despite his failures at the end).

The movies basically destroyed Frodo’s character. 

However I’m not taking any rings to volcanos so I didn’t fail.

Well... my weekend was a bust. The two guys I kid... I mean, I invited (against their will, according to the police report) got away. Then I received a cease and desist letter, and a restraining order from two angry and jealous husbands (). It seemed the rest of you had a good time.
