Well, now is the time to come completely clean. Tell Aiden; it will be okay. There’s no smooth sailing here, so just get it over, and enjoy the eventual smiles.
I’m with those who feel Woody has been lucky in the adult he and Lucas confided in. I’m also thinking that he’s in for a rough ride from his father and brother, no matter how his mother tries to mediate the reaction. Even so, it’s a good thing he and Lucas have decided to tell their stories. Predators need to be caged and kept from hurting people.
I feel bad for Tommy and Paul. Too much going on in their heads, making assumptions, and not enough talking and exchange. But there’s plenty of time, right?
But not before the next chapter.
So many threads you weave into a CJ and Owen tapestry. I really love the idea of the sailing trip, and further identify with Allan. Hanging out with CJ, Owen, and the others could be seriously intimidating.
Ethan ragging on CJ was priceless.
You delivered Thiago’s news with just the right amount of missing detail and circumstance. My hat is off to you!
Great chapter!
Lucas saved Woody by thinking smart. But will it stop Dewberry? He must know that he now has too many students who understand his strategy, and his predation. That makes Dewberry dangerous.
The tragedy in this story is that there is real danger for accusers like Luke and Woody, but the far greater danger is to those kids like them in this world, who become victims of men like this. It’s horrible that this happens much too often.
I read this and understand your anger with yourself, and your thoughts about whether you’re moving forward or not. What inspires me in this chapter is your will to accept the small victories, to consciously search for and try what works. Thank you for sharing your story. It means more to me than you might know.
Okay. They fought, they made up, and we can all breathe again. Best plan: tell Aiden. Then introduce him to Jenn. Then Aiden will have to play nice, or she’ll kill him. Simple, no? Great chapter.
I reply to comments individually. It’s really great when someone brings up an interesting angle or thought I never considered. I agree with others in that if someone took the time to comment on a chapter or poem, they ought to hear from me in the same way. Like @Mikiesboy and @Headstall, I reply to comments that are old because I missed them one way or another. I offer an apology, and then reply.
Thank you, Carlos for AAA. I really enjoyed reading the responses of other poets in this installment! I found@Dolores Esteban’s description of experimental poetry really interesting. And I wish @AC Benus had been in my high school English class.
You’re very, very welcome. Several moments have been rattling about in my head, but never coalesced into a story until quite recently. Thank very much for reading this, and I’m delighted you liked it.
I feel I am behind wonderfully set up. So much information to take in and absorb, details that will be important later, and so on. I’m enjoying getting deeper in as you lead us on.
Love all the north country adventures you take us on... all except the last one. You left us hanging, as if from parachute cords! Next chapter soon? Like in three minutes?
The holiday tightrope is almost over, and you tantalize us with incomplete information on Jordan’s situation. And what is up with Aiden and not living together? Not again. Come on, boys, time to find your courage together.
Some say the stars are cold and indifferent; you demonstrate otherwise in this poem. For you, they hold a deep and abiding love that rivals anything mere science can quantify. Beautifully done.
