A small fishing village on the North West corner of the US lies a fishing boat, the Scuffy. It lies at the wharf across from a friendly tavern, called The Wharf, which is a hangout for the captains of the fishing boats. One boat is different as it is manned by a very young crew.

Max Wilson is a peculiar 14-year-old boy with a love for basketball and classical music. The teenager is popular, but he has bad grades, and family life at home is not going well. Plus Max is gay. It documents the challenges their friendship faces as the boys move through their freshman year in high school. Each part of the series covers a year of the boys' high school life until they graduate from high school.

The story takes place in Cheshire, UK. The main setting, Netherwich, is my invention based on elements of Crewe and Nantwich. The language uses some regional idiom.
