This is a collection of my flash fiction, stories looking at modern day gay life (and life from a few years ago). Each chapter is a different story.

The Squire’s Tale is the final episode in Tales Along the Way, a trilogy of stories told by three business men traveling together on a long-haul flight. As the title suggests, this is a tale about a young gay man who is drawn into a dangerous adventure and an international intrigue. This is a admittedly a complex story, with 25 scenes spread over nine chapters. The story moves between two continents, such that simultaneous events have to be described more than once from different points of view. There is also a flashback chapter, which is clearly identified. I hope I have made it clear enough where and when each scene takes place.

Rigby, impossibly innocent, swaps suffocating middle-class New Zealand for love and liberation in nineteen-sixties London. Revelling in the freedom granted by anonymity, he becomes an actor, stripper, rent boy, teacher and resolute seeker of new experiences while living and travelling in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, when travellers were uncommon.

Dee runs a half way house for aliens escaping from medical and government research facilities. One day he finds a boy with bright blue hair half dead in the snow. The boy turns out to be something quite different to what he initially thought and they go on a journey of discovery finding new things in each other every day and discover the singular delight of sex with tentacles.

A story of love and acceptance

Life is full of random events; tragedy strikes where it will until random goodness displaces the ugliness. Neither event lasts, fades in our collective memories until the roulette wheel of life lands on the unlucky number of some town or city. We’ve become callused…numb…and disbelieving of events outside of our homes, neighborhood, and state. It simply happens somewhere else…until.

593 Riverside Drive is a kind of drawing room comedy about the difficulty a woman living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 1925 has in getting a divorce and the narrow-mindedness of one of the male lawyers in the subsequent trial. Still, there's a lot of humor in the rudeness, especially when Uncle Herbert's around. The book will serialize on Fridays, probably through November -- WELL, THAT HIT A MAJOR SETBACK WHEN I HAD A TRULY UNEXPECTED STROKE ON OCTOBER 2ND. NOW, I'M HOPING TO FINISH EDITING AND POSTING BY THE END OF FEBRUARY 2024.

Thomas is told at a young age that dragons are real, and that his family is part of a secret society dedicated to preserving the secret.
