Flux - Prologue. Prologue

December 25, 2001

Escorial, CA

“Come on, Wade,” I whined, but I smiled at him to show I was doing it to be funny. I was so close to my goal, I could feel it. I was like a lion stalking its prey, and I was just one big sprint away from the kill.

“There is no way you’re sleeping with me,” he said firmly. “There are other rooms here.”

“You won’t even let me crash with you?” I asked. It was way more than that, and he knew it. I wanted to have sex with him in the worst way. I knew that if we were together, physically united, he’d remember that he loved me, he would forgive me, and then we could be together again. That would be the best Christmas present ever.

“Look Matt, I like hanging out with you, but that’s all I can do,” he said. I was stunned, absolutely stunned. There’s no way I thought he’d actually reject me. I thought I had this in the bag.

Then I remembered what Wade really liked. He liked to be dominated, and once I did that, and earned his surrender, he’d fuck me like a wild man. I grabbed him and surged forward, planting my lips on his, driving my tongue into his mouth. I used my body to push him back against the wall, letting him feel my muscles struggling against his. He was fighting me, which wasn’t unusual when we did this, but he didn’t let up, until finally he managed to push me away. “Smurf!” he said, to stop me. That was our safe word. We’d decided that nothing was more dick-shrinking than thinking about a smurf.

I backed away from him, feeling horrible: shocked and guilty. “I’m sorry,” I said quickly, and turned and all but ran away from him, and away from Escorial.

That’s when I knew that I’d really lost him.

Guess a month didn't do much for Matt figuring things out. Seems like it is still all about what he wants in his head.

Delighted doesn't cover the feeling of knowing my favorite purveyor of literary addiction is back right on schedule.

Thanks! It's nice to be writing about something besides those damn towers falling. :-)

One month wasn't enough time for Matt to pull his head out of his ass.

I am so excited to see the next book of CAP released already! With both Odyssey and 9.11 ending so close together, I was planning for the worst and trying to decide how to deal with coming Mark Arbour withdrawal, that I was sure to endure.

Your ability to produce such high quality stories with a quick turn around has me in awe! You are obviously the master!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us here.

Interesting prologue, I thought the author sets the stage for the story. i guess Wade's rejection did that for Matt and maybe for the rest of the characters too. Reality can be a hard lesson. Thanks Mark for not letting us hang out without CAP stories to read, reread and cherish.
Reality can be like running into a hard wall. I think it was for Matt, in this case.

I'm so glad you're excited for the next series! This one is a bit easier to write than Valiant, though. ;-)

I had thought the next book was months off, what a nice surprise to find it begun! A bittersweet month for me: a new book, yay; my birthday on the 6th, again, yay; alas, my oldest sister passsed away around the 2nd, but we don't know yet exactly when as she lived alone, and I haven't heard any details of the autopsy...she had been unwell, but lived in a rural area of Georgia.

Just anxious to see what happens next--I am one of the few who seems to like Will, and I was dismayed to see Matt doing the prologue..I hope he isn't going to be the main protagonist.
