Timmy's Journal - 44. Love Lost

font>Two poems, not great ones but I needed them to be said.

I think all marriages go through bad times. That doesn't mean you're fighting, though maybe that slow leak is more dangerous to a marriage than the sudden puncture. I don't know.

I do know Michael and I have been drifting, we had not been as close. We both married for life, for good and bad times. A good marriage is like a house, once you start to let things slide, the house starts to crumble. Our house was in need of repair.

Been married to you for seven years,

but lately it’s like we’ve never met.

You’re a stranger now, who kisses me

—moulds my body for pleasure.

I asked you where you go

when you’re in bed next to me?

The sadness in your eyes then

made me want to weep.

You said, I’m right here babe

but in your heart you’re not.

Our love had been the strongest river—

flowing — alive — together;

now bifurcated, it is weaker—alone.

I mourned that love, dripping

through fingers I couldn’t close.

I never give up without a fight

It’s not easier just to let things slide

I want us back, want to be we

I think you know, think you see

We make ourselves closer then

Our love has years yet to span

I’m your boy — you’re my man

span>But we realized it and are turning it around. Michael and I are we once more - and that's how we like it.

You almost gave me a heart ache and eye full of salt water, when you said about you and Michael. And I great relief occurred to me when I heard you both realized that before anything. I am happy for you that you hadn't stopped fighting for the love you both had.

And as for the poems, I know they are great relief for you too. As heart wrenching as they are, they gave me some strength too. That for sharing with us. And remember I'll always be there for you to talk anything and nothing. Just remember that.

Thanks Emi. I won't forget and I appreciate it. You know sometimes the everyday business of life gets in the way of things .. especially the only things that truly make life worth living. And you have to stop and see what's happening. That's what we did, we'd taken separate paths for a while.

Thanks again Emi...

I've been so worried about you and Mike, tim. These are sad and beautiful... there is no poetry exercise here... these have been wrung from your heart... and they give me hope. Sometimes we make decisions we will always question, but have to live with. I pray that never happens to you and Michael. Keep doing what you're doing... nothing... NOTHING... is more important than what you two share... much love for you both... Gary xoxoxoxo

Thanks Gary. Sorry you've been worried. We are a couple and determined to stay that way. But we've let things slide, where we always used to work. We know that and we're both back where we belong. Thanks for reading these and for you support. It means a lot to me.

The great test of time... No matter how in love you are, it is trying to live with another person. It's all too easy to disconnect, to move away in heart and mind. Then, if the other reacts with anger or hurt, you sort of think 'But I haven't done anything'. Exactly.

I can suddenly realise it's been days without a proper conversation. Life just moves on. But if you act, it's easier to reconnect after a week than after six months.

I try to choose my hubby every day. I choose to be his. That means I have to take responsibility. Our marriage doesn't just happen. It's a choice. And it sounds to me like you two have chosen wisely.

End rant. ;)

My heart stopped briefly reading these. But your preface and end note give me hope; your poems are the kind of cry that must be heard to change course. You say things that every marriage, every married person, needs to hear. Well and bravely spoken.

Writing to me, is healing, problem solving .. well poetry I should say. We'd been walking our own paths, not together and it was lonely ... but we did a lot of talking about what we want. And none of those things included us not being together. Things are better.. and we'll try not to let that happen again. Thanks Parker, i do not want to stop your heart!

This is wonderful Pup! I hope everyone reads it. Marriage needs to be tended with love and patience and understanding. Just like you said. Thank you for your beautiful and insightful comments. I appreciate it very much.

Marriage can be hard work, especially if you leave the tending for too long. I agree with Puppi... The disconnect can be slow and insidious. We may not see how far we've drifted apart until the distance is almost insurmountable. It's wonderful that you and Michael recognized the distance and have made an effort to bring that closeness back.

I guess there's hard work, that's like breaking rocks and there's hard work that offers fulfillment and great rewards, that's what i think a good marriage is. And you need to make time to do it right. Thanks LL, for your insight. Thanks for readig this and the hugs too.. tim xoxo
