Popular Post Never Surrender Posted November 15, 2013 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2013 Prompt 278 Thanks to Kitt for editing, any mistakes left are entirely my own “Please, I can explain.” She leapt up from the bed and away from the warm body that she had been wrapped around, before starting to search desperately for her clothes. Her housemate stood in the doorway, frozen like an ice statue. His mouth hung open, and for the first time in a long time, he was completely silent. She hadn’t meant to leave the door open when she came in, but crashing onto the threshold in a mixture of alcohol and lust had done nothing to prevent this situation. She should have known that someone would start to hammer on the door once things got dirty. “Please Jamie, say something? I…. this isn’t what it looks like” she pleaded desperately, continuing to pull her t-shirt back over her head. Finally, his jaw snapped closed, and his eyes started blinking rapidly. “But that’s Charlie” was the first stuttered sentence to break the silence. Jamie looked at her in bewilderment, as if the answer could be found on her face. Emily looked back the bed which was now empty, and then turned to the pretty brunette who was quickly pulling on her clothes in order to make a quick escape. “Charlie, wait!” Emily cried, before swinging back to her housemate. “Jamie, I couldn’t tell you, I didn’t know myself! I still don’t, I’m confused, please just give me a minute!” Jamie looked through her, his expression hardening into contempt. “You’re a lesbian.” The mixture of his tone of voice and the expression plastered on his face was enough to make Emily’s heart sink. She knew that her only chance now was to start clutching at straws. “I swear to god Jamie, I’m not a lesbian! I’m straight!” she lashed out in wild desperation. “This isn’t what it looks like!” This was possibly the worst thing she could have said. Charlie froze and shot her a look of disgust, before storming out of the room half dressed, managing to shoulder barge a disgusted Jamie on her way past. Seconds later, Emily heard the front door slam. She couldn’t help but bury her head in her hands as she dropped herself back onto the now empty mattress. “Jamie” she whispered, feeling her emotions start to break. She looked up at him, her eyes pleading for acceptance, desperately searching for the answers from him. “This isn’t who I am, I promise you. I’m straight. I slept with you, didn’t I! I don’t know what’s up with me, maybe I was just desperate… maybe I just… I don’t even know.” At this point, all Emily could do was drop her head back into her hands. She felt the tears start to swell in her eyes as she slowly lost control. Her emotions were turbulent enough with all of these new feelings, without Jamie and Charlie and everyone else trying to push her in one direction or another. All she could feel was an overwhelming sense of despair and loneliness, and a sense of alienation from herself. For what felt like the longest time, she didn’t move from that spot. In reality it was probably only a few minutes, before she heard someone moving across the room towards her. When they wrapped their arm around her shoulders, she knew that it was Jamie. She leant into his body and breathed in his familiar smell, clinging to the fact that he hadn’t left her yet. “S’ok babes” he mumbled. “I’m sure you just wanted some, and that was your only option. But don’t worry, I’m here now, I can sort you out, it’ll all be ok again”. Emily squirmed against his body before allowing herself to go placid and malleable as he started to gently lick and suck on the exposed skin of her neck. She couldn’t help but moan as he found one of the many spots which really got her blood racing, and smiled to herself. Maybe Jamie was right – maybe all her feelings for Charlie really were in her head. -------------------------------- Throughout the night, even as he continued his ministrations above her, she couldn’t get the face of the pretty brunette girl off her mind. --------------------------------- 9
Mann Ramblings Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Awww.... poor confused girl. I feel the sorriest for Charlie, she got the worst end of this. This makes you wonder how many times this scenario has played itself out in other people's lives. Probably more than we'd like to admit. Well done, Never. Being new to the whole thing myself, I can certainly say how scary it is to post something you have created. There is always the fear that folks will rip it apart and that it will be worse than the buttered side landing on the floor. In truth, this might happen elsewhere but people here are amazingly helpful and supportive as you know. Plus, it doesn't hurt that your story was good! 1

I really do have too many writing projects on my plate, but the lack of pressure to keep up with a serial and the fun of mixing new plot elements and characters together makes flash fun.
