Weekly Wrap Up (Dec 10 - Dec 16)

I hope everyone has had a great week so far!  If you haven't already done so, please check out Myr's announcement about the Birthday Policy Change. If you find yourself feeling like you're going in circles, and that you can't seem to get 100% complete, check to see if you've selected a favorite genre! Trust me, that kept me at 67% until I realized what I didn't do!  Now, let's see what happened this week!     Contests 2018 Summer Novella Anthology: Summer - Due April 15th,

I hope everyone has had a great week. Before we get started on this week's wrap up, we would like to congratulate GA author Albert Nothlit for winning silver with the Florida Authors & Publishers Association's 2016 President's Book Awards for his novel, Earthshatter, published with Dreamspinner Press. Read more about Earthshatter, and check out the full list of Albert's stories that can be found on GA.   Featured Story: The Alliance   To start our week off right, we featured Puppilull'

Weekly Wrap Up (August 28 - September 3)

I hope everyone has had a great week and a wonderful August. It's hard to believe that it's already September, this year just seems to be going by so fast! I can't think of anything special that we need to cover today, so I guess this week we can just get right to the wrap up!   August C S R Discussion Day: Treading Water By Headstall   We started out the week with the CSR Discussion day for Treading Water. There was a lot of participation and Headstall answered a lot of great questions! Did

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone has had a great week so far and are well rested for a new week to begin. Don't forget to join us for the CSR discussion tomorrow (August 29th) to discuss Treading Water by Headstall. Before I get into the wrap up for this week, I wanted to announce that the 2017 Anthology Themes have been decided. A huge thank you to all the members who sent in suggestions and to all the authors who helped narrow down and select the upcoming years themes. A reminder that we

Weekly Wrap Up (August 14 - August 20)

Okay, it has been a very busy week, so I'm not going to dawdle too long. However, we also have some info we'd like to share with you. First off, if you are a site author, then please check out the author forum "Anthology Private Discussion" as there are a couple of things in there that require you're attention.   Also, as a reminder, we’re always looking for Premium content, and you don’t need to write a novel to have one of your stories included! Do you have an anthology story that went awry

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug.29 - Sept. 4)

Well this week wrapped up nicely   Before I get into the usual, I do need to talk to you all about a serious issue that has been brought to my attention this week. Usually you are given much more notice than 20 days, but with everything going on as well as where the wrap up falls this month, I'm late letting you know   You only have 20 or maybe only 19 days left to get my birthday presents!  As usual, I have to ask that you keep them under $5000.00 USD  They can be sent to me at Wildon

I wonder if you are the same as me. Do you like being lied to on a consistent basis? I think not!! So why do we plan our days according to the local weather person? All week up to and including last night and this morning, they said this Labour Day Long Weekend would be mainly sunny with a chance of brief showers on Monday. Fair enough. So this morning, I get up, shower, put on suntan lotion because the also said the UV Index was going to be high. Dress in shorts, t-shirt and sandals and of

Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Night to you. First and foremost, thank you to Renee for jumping in to do the wrap up last week. At around 3 pm my time, i got a call and had to head out of town. I left a message for Renee and she came to my rescue. Not sure if I could even try to do a wrap up on my iPhone or iPad So lets have a check in from everyone reading this blog. What time is it locally for you when you are looking at this? I know people are reading around the world and it w

Hey all, have you ever used the expression I'll be back in jiffy, or hold on for a jiffy? If you have, you are a bold faced liar . How dare you . So I was going through a page of absolutely useless trivia and some are interesting. It turns out that a jiffy is an actual measurement of time, based on the amount of time it takes light to travel one centimeter in a vacuum  That is a trillioneth of a second!! This was defined by Gilbert Newton Lewis in the 18/19th century. Now why am I telling you th

We are nearly half way through the summer and you know what that means for North American people... Back to Skewl!!  I guess that is dependent on if you are a student of some level or if you are a working stiff like me  Believe it or not, up to a few years ago I was under the impression that the primary and secondary education all over the continent was basically from the beginning of September until the following June. How wrong I was . From what I understand, some of the southern US they

I think I am going to rename this blog from Weekly Wrap Up to Steve's aging blog   My question to you this week is this. Do you know you have something to do, but before you get to it, you are distracted by multiple other things?  Case in point, I sat down over an hour ago to start on the Weekly Wrap Up, didn't happen. Logged into GA, noticed the few notifications so started weaving my way through those. Then there is a few topics that I'm following that I see people posted on. Then I like

I had an idea today I think we should start a swap your life club here at GA! Why you ask and how? Well, we all live in a area that seems to be effected by the weather right now around the world, so what if you could trade lives with another member that wants your weather for a bit. So @Slytherin for example says she is too cold in the wild north of Scandinavia and @Daddydavek says he is burning up in the Mid West of the US. Well, those two will swap places for a week or two But this mea

Hello Fellow GAers, or can it be GAyers? It is funny how some cities' residents names are made. For example I live in Calgary, we are Calgarians. When I lived in Lethbridge for 10 years, I said we were Lethbians . Needless to say my fellow Lethbians didn't find it as humourous. Jeez, its a joke  The province next to me, Saskatchewan, their peoples call themselves Saskatchewanites. And then the city of Moose Jaw in that province call themselves Moose Javians. Hi, my name is Steve. First and

I'm so excited I just can't hide it I think I'm about to lose control and I think like it So September 1st came and went and I am so looking forward to our upcoming Anthology stories!! I know some are done and some are in the hands of our excellent proof team. I guess we can all now wait anxiously to see the first round of entries   I'm up late, early, whatever time in your neck of the woods, so I need to get this all wrapped up and get to bed   Monday Cia was back with

'Wasting away in Margaretville' RIP Jimmy Buffet. I got to get wasted in Margaritaville in Capitola, CA  Always impressed whenever I heard a new song of his  At least we have his music to remember him by    So what are you up to this Labour Day long weekend if you get it? I'm off to our usual later than most Pride Parade tomorrow. Hoping the T-Storms hold off to the evening.  It is 2:10 AM in my neck of the woods, so let's wrap last week up Monday, Cia presented us with the CSR D

Hiya   What am I so happy about? I'm not really sure . Could it be because Sunday is/was international Bacon Day? I think that might be it  Sadly by they time most of you read this the day will be past, but as I like to say, never to late to catch up   I apologize to all the people who don't eat bacon  I will just enjoy your share for you!   Now that most of you are smelling, tasting, craving bacon, I shall leave this behind and move onto the Weekly Wrap Up! So it is nearly midnight in my time zone and I'm hungry  The thing is I'm trying to lose weight and carbs are my enemy. Don't ask me what a calorie is, but I can tell you about carbs since you should be counting them with certain types of diabetes. But the thing is, what snacking food is there that has little to no carbs? Most snack food are full of the nasty little things  Popcorn, chips, crackers, cookies, even a lot of drinks have a lot of carbs. No suggestions of coffee or tea black please!

Hey all, what's up? First off, thank you Cia for stepping in last week and getting the majority of the Weekly Wrap Up done for me Not sure if you noticed the latest announcement, but Myr, Cia and the programmer are all working triple overtime to try to fix the caching issues. Some significant improvements have happened over the past week with a few more patches coming this week. Hopefully they can nip this in the bud soon, as I know they are all trying so hard to get it done. You als

Whew it was warm out today. Even with lots and lots of sunscreen, I'm a little red . Luckily when I got home around dinner time, I sat down and turned on Netflix and much to my surprise season 3 had appeared on a series that I really liked the first two seasons of in the spring, Ragnarok. I'm not sure if I plugged it here before or not , but if not, it is about Viking mythology, in todays setting 😮  Before you all run off and jump on your longboats to pillage and plunder unsuspecting p

Oops  I actually forgot that I'm back from holidays, well camping, and I told the gracious Renee I would do the wrap up. Well last night, a barley pop or two, I was watching TV and then crawled into bed. I totally forgot that last night was Saturday night   I referred to Renee as gracious, as she was kind enough to do the wrap up for me the past couple of weeks. So let's all give a shout out to her for stepping in!! As mentioned, I was camping the past week and a bit. Had a great

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 18 - Aug. 24)

First off, I need to remind everyone that they have one month to go out and buy me my birthday present Well we are about to head into the last month of the 'Summer Months' in North America. I know the southern states kids, teens and adults are back in skewl and the northern ones and Canada are about to head back in about a week. Not totally clear on how Europe works  Summer here is also a time where we slow down at GA. With College/University Students home for the summer and working or suc

Stay tuned to this spot.  Currently I cannot do the weekly update as I have a caching issue. I'm lucky to get this far. I will try again in the morning   Edit to add: I'm swooping in because I was online doing homework. I can see what Mr. Wildone cannot for some reason, so I thought I'd help out! Thank you all for being patient with this horrible bug; Myr is working diligently to track it down every day since that last IP update. It's not an easy one, and he's swamped! ~ Cia Monda

Nothing to complain about age this week  I wanted to discuss something, but this blog would be then directed to the Pit   Let's talk about unicorns 🦄   I'm a big Tolkien fan and I have no difficulty after reading the stories and believing that all the species that are in Middle Earth, might have at one time been actually on earth. Like maybe prior to the dinosaurs and Middle Earth was destroyed due to some calamity too. Or, what if we finally find life on another planet and it is

So I really have nothing to talk about this week in the Weekly Update preamble, so I thought I would throw out a joke and some useless trivia Why did the chicken cross the playground? Did you know that giraffes only need 5 to 30 minutes of sleep in a 24 hour period They often achieve that in quick naps that may last only a minute or two at a time! Now, onto what happened around these parts this week! Monday, Renee gave us a great story review from @Puppilull: Wednes

Good Day everyone! Thank you to Renee for helping me out last Sunday as I had some personal issues to deal with. Much appreciated   I'm short on time again, so excuse the lack of a preamble as I will get right to the wrap up. Monday, we had the CSR Feature for the month by our newest Signature Author. Give it a go, I'm in the process of doing so myself   Wednesday was the return of our long time favourite feature here at GA! Aaron had an all new AAA: Thursday, Renee wa
