Site Administrator Myr Posted June 13, 2009 Site Administrator Posted June 13, 2009 There is a new show on NBC featuring a young Merlin and young Arthur. http://www.nbc.com/merlin/photos/gallery#item=72906 It is a 13-part series. I'm going to be checking it out. Anyone else?
Trebs Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 LOOKS great - now, this version, Arthur and Merlin hook up, right? That solves the problems of Gwen, Lancelot, and Morgana...
Site Administrator Myr Posted June 13, 2009 Author Site Administrator Posted June 13, 2009 I'm sure there will be fanfictions to that effect. I need to get a hold of Allen. After all, this is the first time that Merlin and Arthur are the same age...

Former Member Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I've heard good things about this from those who watched it in the UK.
Site Administrator Graeme Posted June 13, 2009 Site Administrator Posted June 13, 2009 Unless this is series two, it's been showing in Australia since the start of May. I missed the first episode, unfortunately, but I've seen the rest (so far) and I'm really enjoying it. It's not completely true to the legend, but it's intriguing. I can certainly recommend it (The boys have been told that they have to be quiet while Daddy's favourite show is on -- 6:30pm on Sunday nights, here).
lin Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 This looks great,Myr. I attend a Renaissance Festival every year in my area, and this brings up good memories. Can't wait. Lin
Site Administrator Myr Posted June 13, 2009 Author Site Administrator Posted June 13, 2009 Anything Merlin-related tends to be near and dear to my heart any way And to Mark. Myr
DragonFire Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 This is a really cool series actually, it aired here last year. Second series should be out October or something. Here's the official BBC webpage for it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/merlin/
Libby Drew Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 I love this show. I've been on pins and needles for series 2, which is supposed to start this fall on the BBC. Don't watch it for the historical accuracy, you'll tear your hair out. But it's great entertainment. I'm sure there will be fanfictions to that effect. I need to get a hold of Allen. After all, this is the first time that Merlin and Arthur are the same age... It's a very large and prolific fandom. *whistles*
Krista Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 This show looks interesting.. hmm I'm bad at keeping up with Television shows though, sigh..
Tipdin Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks for the 'Heads up!" I'll have my popcorn popped and be in my footie PJs...
hh5 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 There was a merlin series in the UK is this the same one?
DragonFire Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 There was a merlin series in the UK is this the same one? Yeah, have posted the link for it 4 or 5 posts up!
hh5 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Yeah, have posted the link for it 4 or 5 posts up! So NBC is just filling the summer time by paying the BBC for it. If the audience in the USA starts to really love it how is NBC going to get the actors back who moved on? Start to get look a likes?? Use ILM magic and graphically put the face on a different actor Now we're at the age of instant actors just get the similar voice
hh5 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 ahh is this different than the merlin snl type commerical on sci-fi channel? It started off as a bit Harry Potter ish as the wizard visited the wizard in trainings room then went Merlin after that.

It started off as a bit Harry Potter ish as the wizard visited the wizard in trainings room then went Merlin after that. I don't know the show you're referring to, but I think I can say it's different. Merlin is not 'out' as a wizard, because Uther Pendragron (Arthur's father) has banned all sorcery from Camelot. Using sorcery or witchcraft is grounds for execution. Most Arthurian legends start after Uther's death (where the sword in the stone is to determine the next king). This series is set in the period while Uther is still alive and still king. Arthur is his only son (at least the only one I've seen referenced in the show so far) and Morgana is his ward.
thatboyChase Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I vote for a better looking cast? Motion passed on all fronts. Fugly.
Site Administrator Graeme Posted June 15, 2009 Site Administrator Posted June 15, 2009 I think Merlin's got a really nice smile, but I think Arthur is better looking over all
DragonFire Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 I think Merlin's got a really nice smile, but I think Arthur is better looking over all I think they're both kinda cute. But yeah, the blond does it for me!
Kurt Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 This might be cheating... but you can watch the first season online here. 1
