This story gets better each chapter. As always, I can't wait for the next instalment. The characters interact so well, which keeps up the interest.

Yes, the OMG moment begins resolution to perhaps the longest cliffhanger in GA history. :P Thanks for your comments and interest in the different plotlines that intersect from time to time. These degrees of separation are very tight and Drew is the pivot point. As Bette Davis (Margo Channing in All About Eve) said, "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!"

Well, here we are at Chapter13. Wow! A very nice touch to this story. Finally, Jack Gamble learns that his son, Cray is alive and well!!!

What is the possibility of this happening in real life? So, now we are going to go through the tip-toeing of a father trying to get a look at his son without being observed.

It will be very interesting how you pull this through to a happy meeting face to face.

I wonder, does Cray really have the will to meet his father? Despite his mother divorcing his father, the father moving away and doing nothing in the years of young Cray's upbringing due to fear of being either beaten for attempting to see his son, nor the moxie to try and go through the courts for visitation of the child with a member of the Social Services to monitor what was going on.

I just want to say that I am happy that now Cray may get a chance to meet his father. It will be interesting to see if the teacher gives the contact information of Bob and Drew, who are Cray's current guardians. Where will this lead the readers in this story. Will Cray be pulled in to a decision of leaving Bob and Drew?

I cannot wait for the next chapter to see what actually happens.

Hi JimmyZ, welcome to the group. Chapter 14 will be up tomorrow, 1/25 - 2300 GMT. The big challenge, maboi26, is how Jack and Cray can meet with a minimum of angst and drama...if that's possible.

This is a very good chapter , Jack. I hope everything will work out well for Jack and Cray. Drew and Bob certainly are handling things well and are still protecting Cray. I hope the next chapter will be even happier.

I can tell that the level of guilt that Jack feels is quite high. I can't even imagine. I think Cray will ultimately come around though. I think Spike may be the key, but we'll have to see how Cray reacts first. I suspect that there'll be some drama.

Great chapter, Jack! :2thumbs:

I don't doubt that Cray will want to meet with Jack, if only for closure to that part of his life...finding out why his dad left him. Drew and Bob will help make that first meeting happen. From there, I guess, it's up to Cray.

If Cray does react negatively, I don't see Jack just letting it go without a good fight.

URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  Just when I thought finally!! Now I have to wait another week. I know deep down Cray still loves his dad, and will want to meet him, and with Bob and Drew and Spike behind him, things will work out. :2thumbs:

Good chap. Jack.

It's good thing this chapter is only revolving around that only plot, because if not, I might skip the other parts. LOL.

It'd be interesting to see how Cray reacts. Because I don't see Cray hating Jack. And i think Jack beats himself up too much.

I think it is a cliffhanger, as what Bob said was the last sentence. Or am I thinking too much?

Maybe a baby cliffhanger, Kevin. 0:) There are obvious issues for the biological father and son to work out and the foster dads are keen to facilitate clearing the path. As Tiger, Connor and others point out - Cray has a terrific support group.

You have the ability to create characters that I identify with and make a part of my life. I can't wait for each chapter to find out what my "friends" have been up to. Fantastic writing, fantastic characters and wonderful plot development. The only thing I could ask for it faster posting of chapters!

These characters have become close to me - yes, friends. And I'm often surprised at what spontaneously happens to these guys when writing a chapter. I just 'go with the flow.' I promise you that there are still a few surprises ahead.

I think once Cray gets beyond the initial shock and resentment, he'll be ready to have a renewed relationship with his father. I look foward to that. Jack Gamble is one of the good guys. It's that evil woman that split them up and hurt them both so badly. It's such a shame that they've had 8 years apart all because of her.

Another nice chapter, Jack.

Now I'm getting tingly inside to see what happens in the reunion.

As suspected, Spike indeed played a big part in the revealing. His support...

I'd think Cray would soon forgive Jack Gamble. Jack IS one of the good guys, as Tiger said.

BTW, I was thinking too much about the ending of chap. 14, I guess. I thought there'd be some drama between Bob and Jack.

Well, call me a 'drama q' then. LOL.

I think Drew and Bob are doing their best to minimize that possibility. I'm sure they'll think of something. They're very good at negotiations, especially Drew. Don't underestimate them. :D

I'm looking forward to the big reunion. Cray has already learned enough to understand his father had no choice but to abandon him. His mother is the real culprit along with her perverted second husband.

The reunion may have some rough spots, but I think it will end up a good thing for everyone involved. Cray and Jack meeting one-on-one is a good idea, too, eliminating possible complications from the other relationships involved.

"Drama Q" - LOL! I'm happy that Jack has been embraced by the readers. And I'm a hopeless romantic...so you knew that somehow a reunion might happen...any maybe, MikeL, with some rough spots. Also, this is resolving the cliffhanger for the ending of Desert Fantasies. Gotta be the longest ever at GA.

Shhh...don't tell Cliff James. You know how jealous goats can be.

I have the pleasure of reading Jack's stories on this site before they are posted on crvboy. It feels like a sneak preview. LOL. Jack has also been so kind as to exchange emails with me about his stores and about himself.

I strongly agree that his writing keeps improving. Sometimes even chapter to chapter. I feel like I know his characters and feel for them. Can't wait to see what Jack will do with them. I can lust after them. They seem that real.

I keep cheering him on to keep writing. I a greedy for more, more, more. If I could afford to pay him to write I would. He is that good.

He now has enough work to consider trying to publish is some format. I hope he does so soon.

As far as shifting sand goes right now I am worried about what negative thing may be introduced to move the story along. I have become a softy in my old age. Only happy endings for me now.

I'm also for happy endings...at least on the massage table. :P Thanks, Pete, for your comments and support. I hope the rest of the story lives up to your expectations.

ch16: quite nicely. poor boy.

actually, I would so much like to hear much more about Lou...

Chapter 16 was definitely interesting. I'm glad that everything is good between Cray and Jack. I worried about that a little. I thought it'd take more time for Cray to accept him back in his life. I'm so glad I was wrong. :D
