Kev de Cauchery Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hmm, I suppose it's senior. And I smell Oleg somewhere near. Another great chap. Jack.
mikelivrpl Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 WOW. Just read the chapter and am very surprised at the cliffie. Shouldn't have been, knowing Jack's M.O. but as usual, got so 'into' the story that I wasn't expecting the unexpected. One of these days, maybe I'll learn but if I do, it might mean not enjoying the wonderful writing as much. Please don't keep us waiting too long for the next chapter.
Jack Scribe Posted March 3, 2010 Author Posted March 3, 2010 WOW. Just read the chapter and am very surprised at the cliffie. Shouldn't have been, knowing Jack's M.O. ... Please don't keep us waiting too long for the next chapter. Oh, come on, Mike...I only throw in a cliffie on occasion. I must admit that since Shifting Sands was in response to the veeeeeeeeery loooooooong cliffie at the end of Desert Fantasies, I decided to end this story with a little suspense. Next week will be the concluding chapter with epilogue.
Site Administrator wildone Posted March 4, 2010 Site Administrator Posted March 4, 2010 Jack, Jack, Jack... Just to let you know in retaliation for that evil cliffhanger, I am refusing to read anymore of your chapters before this Saturday I agree that there is the huge mystery about which Lou is dead, but to me is the bigger question of why Mario's security people don't know and locking down things while phone calls are not being answered???? Could there be another coordinated hit being done right now and Mario's security people are dead and the party is about to come to an abrupt end? I think those who don't know about the seedy part of the party guests are about to get a rude awakening! Steve

Steve I think if you go back a chapter or two and look at the timeline of what was going on in the different places that fateful Sunday you could piece together which Lou has died. Given who was trying to call Drew, and who the connections would be with, I think it becomes apparent. The real question is whio did it, how they did it, and just how angry our friend from AOI is going to be about the security breakdown whereever it was. Am I getting warm, Jack?

Who was trying to call gives you a heads-up on the Sr. or Jr. question. The bigger question is, what is 'it'. Evil cliffhanger, wildone? CJ can't have all the fun here at GA.

MikeL Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Jack has just posted chapter 20 of Shifting Sands, "Dawn of the Dons". All good things must come to an end.
MikeL Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great ending to a great story, Jack! I suppose there will be some speculation in this forum about who the late arrival was at Nick's dinner party in New York. I'm pretty sure I know. I'll wait and see what others think.
Kev de Cauchery Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 For some odd reason I was thinking about Lou Sr. Anyways, great story here Jack, and I'm so glad it concluded with Drew and Bob. And.. Ahhhh.. it's time to anticipate the sequel to Other Avenues.
Tiger Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 It's sad to see the series end. It's been among my favorite at GA. Cray could grow into an interested gay dad along with Spike too. Still, it ended at a good spot. Drew and Bob are more prosperous than ever, and it seems that most of the others are happy and doing quite well in their lives. Jack and Cray are having better lives now that they are renewing their relationship.
Jack Scribe Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 Thanks, guys. This has been a favorite story to tell. Tiger, I hosted a party a couple of weeks ago and the bartender - super straight dude - has two dads. In fact, he favors his step-dad. I want everyone know that I appreciate the feedback for my stories - Shifting Sands is no exception. I think most of you know that I finish a story before it's released. However, I do read the forum and take suggestions very seriously. I was changing and re-writing the final chapter 24 hours ago. So...THANKS for being involved. As far as the sequel to Other Avenues, I admit I'm being a little lazy right now. Time to roll up the sleeves.
Conner Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great ending, Jack! I really enjoyed this story. If there's a character I want to continue following, it would be Spence. Mario would be a very close second.
mikelivrpl Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Great ending to a great story. Jack, I hope that you change your mind about this being the end of the LV series as there is so much more "meat on the bones". Really looking forward to your next story. In the meantime I will probably (again) revisit your stories to refresh my memory. Keep up the great work. Mike
Jack Scribe Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 If there's a character I want to continue following, it would be Spence. Mario would be a very close second. I'm sure we'll see Spence again. And Mario is always behind the scene. As far as the guy who entered the 21 Club, MikeL, we'll run into him again.
theschnauzers Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 jack, I have to admit I wasn't expecting such a quick ending. Or as Jeff Probst would say, I was blindsided. Enjoyed the ending, but I have to say I hope we hear of Spike and Cray in the future. (Please, please, pretty please.) This trilogy was Drew and Bob's story, and I think Cray and Spike (and the ones that have been mentioned deserve their own time in the sun as leads.
Jack Scribe Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Under the category of When the real world crosses paths with fiction, here's a headline out of Las Vegas: COO of Hard Rock Hotel's body found Updated: March 9, 2010 05:48 PM PST Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have confirmed to Action News that the Chief Operating Officer of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was found dead inside his Summerlin home Tuesday. Although the official cause of death is not being released, Metro Police tell Action News Andrew (Randy) Kwasniewski's wife found him with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Randy and I worked together several years ago. Great guy with loads of talent and integrity.
Jack Scribe Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 ...This trilogy was Drew and Bob's story, and I think Cray and Spike (and the ones that have been mentioned deserve their own time in the sun as leads. I agee that it's their own time in the sun. Plus, I really have come to like Spence.
amBIguoustwo Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Sorry to see the story come to an end. Loved watching the Cray/Spike relationship develop and I'm looking forward to more Spence.
Jack Scribe Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Sorry to see the story come to an end. Loved watching the Cray/Spike relationship develop and I'm looking forward to more Spence. As mentioned earlier, those guys will return for sure. I may visit Vegas this summer and get inspired for a sequel down the road. As odd as this may sound, I wanna see Donnie and Marie at the Flamingo. They are terrific entertainers. Speaking of seeing acts, I've got tickets for Reba right here in the Palm Springs area - Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage - in June.

Yes, we need some more of the gang at Vegas - I'm getting withdrawal syndromes!
J.T. Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wow... I just finished the trilogy on the train home from work tonight. What a series! I agree with everyone else in that I want to read more of these guys!!!!! They are such great characters and you've expertly integrated AOI in there, which I was like... zomg it's AOI! I read the Splash series a while back and I loved it, so when Oleg made a reappearance I was very glad. I want to see what happens in the growing relationship with Jack and Cray, Crap and Spike, Lou Jr. and Spence... hell I even want to see if Cray decides to file charges. Yes, I know it was mentioned in the epilogue, but as someone who's read the entire trilogy, a paragraph just isn't enough. I really enjoyed the side plots and how the focus shifted from Cray to Spike. And since I didn't read the trilogy until the entire series was completed, I didn't have to wait for the Jack Cliffhanger. I hope you write more about these guys, even a sideplot story with "Lou/Spence/???" or "Henry/???" would be nice... Also, with Nick running the show and Mario promoted, did Brad get a promotion as well or did Vince Sr snag it? Thank you for a wonderful 5 days of non-stop reading. It has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to reading more of your novels. (I'm just hoping if the stories are in order that I read them in order... since they moved from eFiction it's been harder to see publish dates to see when your stories were first published... and the stories listing is in alphabetical order instead of being broken down by series/chronological order)
Jack Scribe Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 You did read the trilogy in proper sequence. Shifting Sands was posted in 2010. Thanks for comments and suggestions. I know we'll get back to Vegas in the future. Cray and Jack, their significant others, will have been very active with their lives. Same with Spence, his younger brother, and Lou, Jr. With the economy still very wobbly in that town, I wanted to give Vegas a break. However, the city and characters are too ripe not to be 'plucked' again.
