That's a tough question LOL I don't do any particular lifestyle to try to keep in shape. I do eat organically whenever possible and grow most of the vegetables and fruits I use. I get exercise through life like playing volleyball, tennis or badminton with my son, or bicycling to shops or work, but I don't go to gyms or any specific exercises and routines. I am "in shape" more in warmer months, and less so in winter, as we spend more time indoors.

I don't abstain from any thing as unhealthy either, though I know it can be. I will smoke with friends if we're having a drink, or have a few extra drinks when we're having a good time. I don't smoke otherwise, and only occasionally have a drink at home. :-) Basically, just try to keep everything balanced.

i don't think that posting this poll is being selfish at all. but I must go on to say that I'm a dietition's nightmare. While I'm not too badly out of shape, I'm getting there. My diet, chips, rice and white bread with curry, potato curry, beens as well. I know that it is not exactly the most healthiest of foods but hey, gona try to cut down and atleast do 1 type of exercise even if it means climbing up and down stairs, or walking distances,

I'v been gon for like three weeks so for nearly a month i did not work out....Posted Image I know I know... But I'm back now so going FINALLY start at it a gen WOOP! WOOP!Posted Image

Well... I don't drink soda except for the occasional Caffeine free Diet Coke. I drink lots of black coffee... please don't ask me to give up on that :(

I am basically vegetarian except for the occasional bacon sandwich... I know *hangs head in shame* and try to eat lots of fruit and veg.

I am try to be healthy on the inside as it is difficult for me to be healthy on the outside. I have disabilities which make it difficult for me to exercise but I am trying very hard to walk more although I'm not doing so well right now. i will try very hard over the next month to step that up but I don't think I will end up looking like the female version of your picture :0

Lol I could give everything else up except the soda :)

I... try. LOL. I have a set of weights at home and I've had several abortive weight training attempts. Most failed because I get bored easily. :| The latest one has a more pressing reason - a family beach vacation soon. LOL

My problem has always been being underweight though. As I grew up, I filled out somewhat, so my body at it's 'normal' state is just... normal, I guess. Average. I never really have to try that hard to maintain my um... 'figure'. But I do want muscles someday. Yeah baby yeah. XD

My eating habits and fitness are generally just really bad. I'm the average weight for someone my age, but my cardio is absolutely pitiful  and it seems like everyone in my life is trying to get me to gain more weight, what with my dad's insanely yummy cooking, and my friends always buying me fast food i don't need but end up eating anyway. I used to exercise last year and the year before + every summer i do quite a bit because i'm outdoors a lot, but i've done nothing this year using school as an excuse <_<. So i've gained a few unwanted kilos that i want to shed by summer. Oh yeah, BEACH! ^_^

I vote we start a new 1 month challenge.

Either way, i'm starting my own today.

Goals:

- No more chocolate or fast food

- STOP SNACKING!!! :o

- Drink more water + eat more fruits

- Go for a jog a few times a weeks and start doing crunches again.

hahaha noooooooooooo! now i have to actually go do those things

I'm actually doing light weight training or body shaping (because if do heavy weight i get too big which is disgusting and I'll scare kids) for the past 2 months and lost weight and back to my usual self though, there are still left so I ain't quitting till regain my previous weight which is 160 lb. , I'll lessen my training if i get close to that weight and maintain it. ugh, cause i gain fat easily. SO light weight training + strolling or walking is good combination in my opinion.

@soup, wanna compete my sweet? i could use a little drive to make me bit to serious :), how about three months then show pics after?

I think staying away or spending less time on your computer/laptop. I got fat because of it. Its JUST my opinion feel free to react

Good thinking! And you could also maybe try the 100 pushups challenge and the 200 sit ups challenge. They got me into pretty decent shape.

I did both initial tests...AHAHAHA! damn i'm worse than i thought  . I think i'll stick with it though, it seems pretty reasonable.

Thanks for the suggestion, Thomas. I think it's actually doable.

Does anyone else want to try the challenge? It'd be interesting to see how many of us can actually do the 100 pushups and 200 crunches in 6 weeks :)

I'm not sure i'd be much competition :P but we can still motivate each other, Ken. As for the pictures, i'll think about it. First i'll have to see how well i even do in a month.

Hmm, I've gotten into a strong running routine this summer, 2.5-3 miles 4-5 days a week. It's not only a great way to stay in shape, but it helps keep me relaxed and focused the rest of the day. I take my dog with my almost every time too. He's almost 10 years old and can still run 3 miles at a pretty heavy pace with me! He's super dog! :P

I'm up for the pushups and situps challenge, since I can't do any running for the next 3 months. :(

I was able to maintain my weight down while I was in a cast, so at least I didn't lose all the good work done in the Spring. :great:

I used to regularly visit the gym around 3 times a week til the finances took a turn for the worse...

Unfortunately for me, getting back into shape means gaining more mass, which means more calories, more food, more $...

The overweight people have it easier i think.

Yoga keeps me in shape. Since I instruct it too, I get tens of hours of yoga in a month. I also do pole dancing, weight training and running. I get muscels pretty (too) easily for a woman, so I have to be carefull with the weights since I don't want to compromise my flexibiliy. I'm sure if I was a man, I'd be really really big with the muscles the way I'd love to work out. Lol.

2011 I'm gonna focus more in eating as pure and ecolocial food as possible.

Depends on your definition.

I eat right and very rarely deviate from my very health-conscious eating habits, though I love food and tend to eat more than I need.

I work out enough that I can shove furniture around and buck bales by myself, but I'm definitely far from ripped.

I guess the summary is that I'm stronger than I look, but I'm still on the tubby side.

If by "shape" you mean a stick. I lose weight quick when I hit a depression stage and have a hard time gaining it back once everything is back on track. My metabolisim is high and I'm considered underweight for my height. It doesn't help much that everything tastes like sawdust or copper most of the time except for coffee and cigarettes.

I try to keep in shape, but it is getting harder to do between work and home. To many things and not enough sun light in the day to get it done.

If I start getting chubbier then I might as well start taking regular exercises. Otherwise I am no fitness freak and do it only now and then. I like to maintain a healthy body but that's about it. I am not obsessed with getting mascular arms, pecks, and all that. But I'd like my man to have a sexy body only for and exclusive to me. Haha, j/k.

Since I last posted back in June, I started working full time in July, and I've now lost 26kgs in total, and added about 10kgs in muscle.

Now that it's not show season though, I'm not exercising as much as I would have been in show season, but im still steadly losing about 0.5kg a week, it's not much but atleast I haven't really put on any more fat

Well I just lost about 15lbs. I have 10lbs to go. I only drink water and green tea. One cup of coffee each day with 1/3 cup milk and that's it. I only eat meats and vegetables. I avoid starchy foods such as rice, breads and potatoes. I try to not eat sugars. I get my sugars from fruit or use agave nectar.

As for exercise I got to gymn 3 times a week an use the eliptical machine. I run, skip and do other weight loss (squats, push ups, crunches, pull ups etc) exercises at home. Once I loose the ammount of fat I want, I'll start gaining muscle, I've gained a lot of muscle already especially on my back.

Thanks for starting this thread!

It sounds like you may be skipping out on a bit too many things, like dairy.

Push/pull ups, crunches, etc are resistance workouts. You can lose weight and get lean at the same time.

What's your macro nutrition ratio like?

I'm kind of an exercise junkie already, but I shall join thee in your challenge.

I won't be giving up soda (cause it's diet), but I'll try eating out less.

Oh, I forgot about this thread. I went back and reviewed my logs so see how I've done the past year (I find it helps to be a stats whore so I can monitor results over time):

- Running - Averaged 141 miles in 24.5 runs per month for the last 12 months

- Gym - went just about everyday (sometimes twice). I think I missed 4 days (they were closed on xmas, the other 3 I must have been sick)

- Weight -155lbs (I was 170lbs in April 2010)

I actually am in the best shape I've ever been in my whole life.

Most of my progress has been in the last two months (I had been up to 175lbs in January of 2011 after the holidays and a running injury), but I really kicked up my exercise & running and cut out a lot of crappy food. I also have been doing this Men's Health Spartacus workout for the last 3 weeks and it really helped me get over my 160lbs plateau. It's so easy to get into a routine(rutt) at the gym, where exercise gets too easy. I've really taken to heart what a lot of people have always said, that you need to constantly mix up your routine and challenge your body/muscles. Since starting the Spartacus workout, I've notice much more muscle tone all over, especially in my core (I actually have some visible veins sticking out on my lower abs :lmao: ).

Anyhow, I'll have to remember to constantly visit this thread (especially when I get complacent and think about pigging out on a fatty pizza).

Thanks for pinging this thread!

Take Care,

Vic

I had back problems in the past, but it's really starting to feel better lately so I told myself I'd get in shape once the weather got nice by running and doing flips everyday.

So it seems like a bad joke that the temperatures this year so far are fifteen degrees below normal :/
