Marzipan Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Hello folks! I'm interested to hear, which parts of GA do you use? And I'm too lazy to create a poll, so please with your free words. If you are a reader only (then you might not ever see this topic)? Are you reader and author? Do you participate on the forums, write a plog, chat? Is GA your community and if so, what do you give back to it? Are you a regular or are you someone who visists us from time to time? How did you find GA? That is something I'm interested to hear! *** I think GA has so many things going on that I would never get bored. Every day something new to read and comment... Chatting with friends from all over the world is something I really enjoy after getting rid of my original "angst". Those are my favourite things here. Well, also, getting help with my own stories and having them read here is prizeless too! Being involved in as many things as possible is my way of giving back to the community. Helping new members get started (not that long ago I was newbie too!) is something I think is great here, everyone is so welcoming! I found GA by accident, followed DomLuka from nifty after reading Dessert Dropping there... Then I read all his stories in a week or two, then his forum and that is actually when I stumbled in GA discussions and rest is history. I joined in immediately. *** Looking forward on your answers!
Michael9344 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Well, I found GA last year when I was still in my 'why-the-hell-am-I-attracted-to-guys' depression. I was trying to figure it out and while surfing the web I found Nifty, and a story there led me here. It took me three months to convince myself to join and another two to get my act together to start 'participating'. I write and read stories here (there are so many stories to read!) I also join in the forums. I've met ppl who are like me (in a sense) from other parts of the world and thats liberating. I often use a cell phone so I can't really chat. But I'm seriously and continuously enjoying myself.
TetRefine Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Well, I don't read the stories a whole lot, just a couple. I participate a ton in the forums though, along with chat, and I write an occasional blog from time to time here. I found GA off a porn site and I lurked around in the shadows for about 5 months before I finally decided to join on the first day of my senior year of high school. Turns out to be one of the best decisions I ever made.
Site Administrator Cia Posted March 25, 2011 Site Administrator Posted March 25, 2011 LOL. I use just about everything on the site other than the blogs. I read, write, comment in the forums, and of course use the gallery to brag about my pics My life and thoughts are soooo not interesting enough to blog anywhere though. I read the hosted on-site before I joined and it wasn't until after that I actually found e-fiction. I joined and chatted and was primarily a reader at first. I went from member to chat mod at 2 months, forum mod to admin recently so that I can be part of the WST lead team. In this way I am still mostly focused on the writers on the site which is a bonus for me. I'm not the biggest reader/commenter all the time but I am still present just about everywhere and I try to get to know the newer writers and offer the pearls of wisdom shared with me. It was here I first got the confidence to show my writing to others, who encouraged me to post my first story ever. Thanks, Lugh, Nephy, and Paya. From there it's just gone on to GA being a very big part of my life. As long as it's here I don't think you'll see me leaving.
Skyline Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I use chat, and occasionally the forums. I wrote my first blog the other day, but I don't know how often I'll use that functionality though since I already have another blog Thats about it for me!
Bumblebee Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I like using chat.... except I seem to regularly kill it I only really come on here because I have nothing better to do, but then when I leave for a few days I start to wonder how everyone is etc Reading isn't really high on my list of things to do on here, only really because I don't really have enough time to troll through the fourms, talk in chat and sleep in one day let alone start reading Andys, Lughs, Marias, Frostys stories (among the authors who I've said I will read their stories,..... must stop say that)
old bob Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I'm interested to hear, wwhich parts of GA do you use? Forums, stories, chat and other sites recommended by the topic "friends of GA". Are you reader and author? Only reader, I'm not able to write in English, my mother tongue is French. Do you participate on the forums, write a blog, chat? Yes, as much as possible, but not so much I would, because I'm still busy and working at home. Is GA your community and if so, what do you give back to it? Yes GA is . I cann't give much back, living too far away from a majority of members. A few members became my friends and I'm happy of that. In my comments, I always try to advise the young (and sometimes the old) members, using my experiences of a long life, with good and bad moments from which I learned to accept myself and the others. Are you a regular or are you someone who visists us from time to time? Regular, checking GA a least once a day. I like particularly the fact that members'ages go from 16 to 82 (that's me, I suppose I'm the eldest member . How did you find GA? That is something I'm interested to hear! I found it 5 years ago. I dont remember exactly how. Maybe through another gay stories site.
TrevorTime Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I found GA by accident, followed DomLuka from Nifty after reading Dessert Dropping there.. That was the exact same way I found this place, but instead of Dom, it was Bill W (he is also a hosted author). I found Dom soon enough though, and breezed though all of his stories. Let's see, I read stories, blog, use chat, and post in the forums. I won't attempt to write a story because I know I would suck at it.
Arpeggio Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I'm an avid blogger. Or well, I was, I haven't been up to writing much recently.
Dark Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I dropped in to read Desert Dropping because the story was recommended to me by a friend. I read all of Dom's stories and dkstories's too, plus others. A few months later I joined, stalked for a little while, and posted a couple things to get my feet wet, so to speak. Now the site is one of the places I check as regularly as my email and skype. I read and write as much as I can, which admittedly hasn't been much lately.
Y_B Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Despite what people tell me, I still believe this is a porn site and even though I haven't found a single video clip yet in the 2 years I've searched (and none of these so called "members" aka porn stars are willing to share their stuff), I'm never giving up
rustle Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Despite what people tell me, I still believe this is a porn site and even though I haven't found a single video clip yet in the 2 years I've searched (and none of these so called "members" aka porn stars are willing to share their stuff), I'm never giving up *whispers conspiratorially* "I saw a picture of Andy once on here. He was wearing...a baseball cap." (gasp)
Y_B Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 (edited) *whispers conspiratorially* "I saw a picture of Andy once on here. He was wearing...a baseball cap." (gasp) I don't know who Andy is but he sound hot!! Edited March 29, 2011 by Yang Bang
Welshdude Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I found the site through Comicality's website. Com was (and still is:) my favourite author, so when I eventually read all his stuff up to date I found my way here which led me to everyone else websites. That was about 5 years ago I guess, maybe more. I come here regularly for reading and I occasionally look through the forums. I love GA because it feels like a break from 'life' when things get a bit crap. Diving into a story is a great distraction XD.
Frostina Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 If you are a reader only (then you might not ever see this topic)? saw this.. mainly because I'm not JUST a reader Are you reader and author? OOOH! categorisation, I'd have to say I'm a reader first! Do you participate on the forums, write a Blog, chat? Forums.. YES!!! Blog.. Nope Chat.. Hell yes!!! Is GA your community and if so, what do you give back to it? Are you a regular or are you someone who visits us from time to time? Definitely yes!!! I love it here. people are nice.. so so Nice and I love to edit. so.. i guess that's my way of giving back to GA I'm pretty much a regular here How did you find GA? That is something I'm interested to hear! Like a LOT of people I followed Dom here Lurked a LONG time, reading stories in Efic too. Finally gave up and tried to join in! and did!! Best decision i made in 2010 :D
Site Moderator TalonRider Posted March 29, 2011 Site Moderator Posted March 29, 2011 I originally joined as a reader and an editor. I'm one of those rare members here who isn't an author. I eventually began working with a number of authors here besides those I worked with off site. Since joining, I became involved in helping develop the Editor/Beta Reader Program as the Editing Lead, as part of the Writers Support Team. When the WST was rebuilt at one point, I became the WST Deputy Lead. The WST has been rebuilt again with all the recent changes and now I'm the WST Lead as well as a member of the Admin Team. I spend more time here than I do any other site.
Mark Arbour Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Are you reader and author? I'm both, although the more I write, the less time I have to read. Do you participate on the forums, write a plog, chat? I participate in the forums, although I try to avoid the Soap Box these days. I rarely write on my blog. I even more rarely go into the chat room. I'm not a big fan of the chat room; I've lost readers who have gone in there and been treated rudely. Is GA your community and if so, what do you give back to it? Are you a regular or are you someone who visists us from time to time? My community? I'm not sure what that means. I post a lot of stories here, actively participate in the forums (mostly my own), and generally log on here a couple of times a day at least. I figure that being a hosted author here, that's my job, to post stories, so I do. If it weren't for my readers, it would be a thankless task. How did you find GA? I followed Dom here. Didn't everyone? More than anyone else, Dom has built this site into what it is.
comicfan Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hello folks! *** Okay answer time. 1) I am slowly learning all the things I can do here on the site. I've posted work, gone and posted in the forums, and was in the chat room last night. Only been here three days so I am sure I will get to more as I figure it all out. 2) I am a reader and a writer. I started off reading a few stories then decided on one I really wanted to comment on it so I joined the site. Then figured if I was going to join I might as well post my own stuff and see what people thought of it. 3) Yes I do the forums but haven't blogged anything. Nor am I sure if I will. 4) I look at this as a sort of replacement to my old writing group. Here I can write what I like, have people give honest feedback and do the same for them.
thephoenix Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Are you reader and author? Reader yes, author no. I was considering writing something at one point but I didn't know how to transform my ideas into a story. Do you participate on the forums, write a blog, chat? Yes, no, and yes. Considering starting a blog now as I begin my workout routine, and then extend the subject when I begin my pilot training. Is GA your community and if so, what do you give back to it? Are you a regular or are you someone who visits us from time to time? I think I qualify as a regular. I try to leave reviews but I admit I tend to lurk at times. Plus I decided to support GA by getting premium. How did you find GA? Through Nifty.
