Jamie Dornan To Play Christian Grey in "50 Shades of Grey"

Recommended Posts

After Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam dropped out, Once Upon A Time star Jamie Dornan has been picked to play the lead role. I thought he was pretty smoking hot on Once Upon A Time, so I'm glad he got the part.

Any of you read 50 Shades of Grey? It is so horrendously bad that it becomes funny.

Good for him.

I didn't read it. I heard the grammar is poor and as I am still a learner I don't want to be influenced badly. JK. I thought about it a few times, I wanted to know what all the fuss is about, but my reading list is long enough as it is, containing books/stories I am actually eager to read, so no, not a chance in the near future.

I was actually talking about this with my mother in law last night. She likes the books, a lot, but wasn't sure about the original actor for that plot. I didn't get past the author's first flawed research examples. Admittedly, I went into reading it with a chip on my shoulder based on the 'it was just fan-fiction when I wrote it' excuses she'd had, but still... look at a damn map, at least, if you put your plot in a real place! I don't have any interest in the story as a movie either, though hopefully they won't be leave Vancouver, and drive North to Seattle... through Portland which is south of Vancouver.

Really ?? Bad research indeed ! I haven't read the books (and don't want to read them either) but Jamie Dornan is hot ! :)

I know this is not really in good form and I shouldn't do it, since why would I click on this thread if I didn't have an interest? Well, you're smart, you know why I did it: because I want to say mean things about 50 Shades of Grey. So here goes.

Jamie Dornan to play Christian Grey? Here's how many fucks I give about this:

.

No wait! I do have one: poor Jamie Dornan. I don't care who they are, no human should be subjected to the possible script for this movie.

Yeah, the shit is horrible, but really, I'm just looking forward to seeing that lithe body parade around screen naked. That's basically the entire point of 50 Shades of Grey.

I'll be honest, I pictured a brawnier guy with a body more like Bradley Cooper's instead of a wiry Irish dude, but yup, he'll work.

I've read the series, all Three of them. The first one was kinda good and I enjoyed it (despite the errors). The last two books, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were...less entertaining and more frustrating. The only reason I finished it is because I argued that since I finished Twilight, nothing could be worse. But Fifty Shades Darker was WORSE.

Anyway, I won't be seeing the movie. Oh, no, thanks. *shakes head.*

I worked in a Target warehouse, and when we got bored or things were slow we'd go into the book storage unit, pick up 50 Shades of Grey, and my boss would do a hilariously sarcastic reading of a randomly opened page. How anyone can take that book seriously is beyond me.

Also, Jamie Dornan is so generic. *yawn*

Interesting challenges you set yourself :P

You have no idea, Zombie. People think 50 Shades is bad because it's popular. And it is bad. And popular. But oh, the places you go and things you'll see if you just randomly buy books at Barnes & Noble. That's what my grandma did before she returned to Japan in a 2-week vacation to Canada. She gave me this fantasy book that looked very innocent from the cover. Not much of an English speaker herself, I'm sure she thought it was highly appropriate for 10-year old me.

What she didn't know was that the book was about elven mountain hermets with two dicks each, one for sucking the latent evil out of the snapping, teethed vaginas of possessed vampire female elves and the other dick for depositing built up "dark cum" into the assholes of sheep.

You might think I was scarred for life, especially at 10, but the naivete to sexuality and misogyny made reading it much better. I thought it was absolutely, gob-stonkingly hilarious (my mom would always ask me, "Is the book that funny?" I eventually ripped it up and threw it away so no one would suspect I ever read it) and have ever since been on the search for a story that could possibly be worse.

There's nothing quite as fun as watching cute college guys reading 50 Shades of Grey outloud:

As for Jamie Dornan, I gotta disagree with the idea that he's generic. Irish guys are always so hot.

I totally find Jamie Dornan hot, so I'm into it. I can't wait to see him handle a whip.

Oh yes. Jamie Dornan has been in my radar ever since he was with his band-duo, "Sons of Jim" and he has a golden voice to boot. But his co-star, said in an interview that 50 Shades of Grey is an amazing story and I was flabbergasted . . . REALLY! Really now! You need to be WHIPPED!

I'll probably watch this for him. But I prefer in with his former band.

He's getting his first lead in a major movie release. I'd pretend to like the story if I were in his shoes, too.

Sorry that I didn't clear out earlier, it's his female co-star who said such remark. And let me rephrase what she said . . . I forgot to edit my previous comment but SHE (his co-star) said that 'it's an amazing love story that's why the readers resonated with the book.'

And I'm like: REALLY! Really with cherries and icing on top. You really think people bought the book because of it's plot? I mean older women loved it because it was soft-core porn action with a mind-numbing plot which doesn't require the emotional depth and story of Harlequinn romance novels, which were much better according to society's standards.

However, I'd have to agree with your point though to a degree. But she did audition for the role. It's not like it was shoved to her face and then she happened to like the book. Just like what Al Pacino said, "In Hollywood, if you want respect, audition for roles that will get you awards and probably an oscar. If you want money, audition for roles that doesn't make sense but apparently people will like."
