Former Member Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 We also forgot Poland. Poor Poland, Europe’s punchline. And whose offspring were the subject of a whole series of offensive ethnic jokes in the ‘70s in the US.

Probably a cousin to Australia except with a California flag, sunglasses, and sparkeling tooth implants. Extra muscles too since he has, like, his big stupid brother 'Merica. 1 1

It’s a little cooler up here in the Bay Area, but SF is known for the nudity at Folsom St Fair, the Bare to Breakers runners in the Bay to Breakers marathon, and SF’s Baker Beach. I can remember how KGTV* used to send camera crews down to Black’s Beach every Memorial Day for their annual report on the unofficial start of summer in the ‘70s. Naturally, the shots were heavily censored with shots carefully framed with women only shown from the shoulders up and men only shown from the waist up. Aside from distant rear shots, anything else was covered up by black bars. I also remember on-scene reports of streakers at San Diego State – back when streaking meant actually taking your boxers off too! * Their standard flood reports every winter were always from the same locations too: Santee and the south entrance to Fashion Valley (which was specifically designed to allow the floodwater to flow over the pavement without damage). I used to live in East San Diego and graduated from Crawford High School. I lived a few blocks away from 54th & University back before the neighborhood deteriorated (I’ve seen the satellite views).

If you've never seen a surfer do 'The Towel Trick' then you are in for a treat sometime. 1

If you've never seen a surfer do 'The Towel Trick' then you are in for a treat sometime. In the ‘80s, In Touch for Men magazine (a lawsuit forced the awkward name on the porn magazine) had a pictorial featuring candid shots of surfers changing out of their wetsuits along 101. A few of the surfers tried using a towel to insure privacy. A few noticed the telephoto lens aimed at them and reacted by flipping the photographer off. Black bars through their eyes and blurred license plates were used to provide anonymity. The images were mild compared with similar images available online these days. ;-)
