Still no news from the coroner, so I rang them.

Bearing in mind they collected Dad Tuesday, they only did a covid swab today (72 hours for those results), once we have those they will give me a date for the post mortem ( unfortunately). So it will be at least a week before Dad gets to the funeral directors.

I did see the funeral directors to mostly sort out funeral, which could be about 2 weeks after they get Dad. So all in all a productive but unproductive day.

So it's looking like the funeral might not be till May.

Chris so sorry to hear this is taking so

long. Please know we are all here for you. So take care of your self.

Sorry  if I'm ranting, I've got nowhere else to release at the moment x

Wait, no doc in 2 weeks so authorities require a post mortum I can understand. A bit of a delay waiting his turn I could also accept. Annoying but...

Then another 2 week delay AFTER the funeral parlor finally comes up to bat???

Hon, you are not ranting, you are showing remarkable restraint. I would be going full on Karen on them all. Took less than a week for my dad and that included a flight from Florida to New Jersey for the service!

Unfortunately here in the UK, the funeral directors are great but they are only a middle man. The coroner is the legal side and the crematorium are run by the local council.

So in reality we're dealing with 3 different people but with the funeral directors doing the hard work.

It's a complex system if the death isn't simple.

Os a similar situation here, but that is an inordinate amount of time to be  leaving g families hanging.

Positivity for today:

In today's world charitable organizations seem to be a dime a dozen. There's a Go Fund Me account for an entire plethora of wants and needs. Many are legitimate, many are not. When you discover a good one.... it's nice to share.

In the community next door that I used to work at the manager had a title turn in. We're not big fans of these because it usually means the homes are in shit condition. Sure enough, that was the case.

We heard about Our Next Mission. They're a group dedicated to helping military veterans with housing. They, in turn, partner with Habitat for Humanity. Our company gave them the title to the home, donated money to help with the cost of material and fed the volunteers several times over the course of two months.

These volunteers completely transformed a dilapidated, ugly "trailer" into a beautiful "home".

New floors, new kitchen, new bathroom, new siding, new plumbing, new electric, etc. It looks absolutely amazing.

The most amazing part is they have now donated that home to a qualified veteran in need. The residents of the community have also donated furniture and gift cards to the veteran.

They had a dedication ceremony and the man was in tears over the home and the generosity of everyone involved.

I'm hoping that if I end up having to take possession of the shotgun slinging resident's home I'll be able to do the same thing. My company has its flaws, but this is a great program to be part of.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Flaws are everywhere and within us all ... doesn't mean we can't do good.  Thanks for this.

Here is an eye roll Chris should be able to the across the Atlantic.

You guys know I resigned my position at the barn more than 6 months ago. This morning I get a call from the grain supplier. No one placed an order this week, and they want to know if we need grain before the driver goes home for the weekend.

Ummmm...

I don't work there anymore. You have to call Steve. We did but no one called back.

That's comical

That's pretty much what I was up against for the last 6 months I worked there.

Little birdie called late this afternoon to tell me she saw Steve pull in with a pickup load of grain.

Seems hubby was talking to Steve last weekend. Hubby asked what it would take for me to go back to work.

They could not pay me enough! As the cowardly lion said, "Not no way, not no how!"

A nice bright sunny Sunday morning. Can't say warm, there's frost on my car here in Maryland.

I experimented with poker last night. Instead of sleeping 4 hours, getting up at 3am and going to the casino, I just decided to nap for an hour around 9pm, got up at 10pm and went. I noticed that as it got later the "recreational" players (recreational is defined as people who work normal 40 hr/wk jobs) started to toss more and more money into the pot. It was like they didn't want to have to cash out.

So I made $3500, played until 430am when the crowd really died down and then had a nice ride home!

Hope everyone is doing good!

Looks like it's been nearly a week since anyone's mentioned food so here goes.....

I decided to make zucchini boats tonight and can I just tell y'all that they were the best ones I've made to date. Zucchini, diced fire roasted tomatoes, spinach, some kind of white fish that a resident caught out in the Gulf, onions, garlic and seasoning. A little bread crumbs and egg to hold it together with some shredded cheese on top. Hell to the yes!

I really need to remember what kind of fish he said it was.

Hope everyone has a good evening!

Nothing but rain in the forecast for the next two days. Yuk.

Today is a hard day. It would've been my Dad's 90th birthday.

Hope you all have a better day today.

It sure is. The past four years didn't bother me. This year does.

Good luck with the crown.
