I immediately associated it with death; probably because of the first three letters, wrong associations came to mind - "mortuary", "morbid", "moribund" Its interesting...I'll have to ask AC if he knows it. 7

That word, which came to modern English through Middle French, ultimately derives from the Latin verb mordēre, which means "to bite." In modern parlance, mordant usually suggests a wit that is used with deadly effectiveness. Mordēre puts the bite into other English terms, too. For instance, that root gave us the tasty morsel ("a tiny bite"). But nibble too many of those and you'll likely be hit by another mordēre derivative: remorse ("guilt for past wrongs"), which comes from Latin remordēre, meaning "to bite again." I have not seen that word in a very long time and would have been hard pressed to explain it out of context. 5

Hi Def *waves* Thank you for asking New York war phenomenal. I visited many museums: the MET, the MET Cloisters (I was surprised that the tickets are valid for 3 days in a row for non NY residents, so I used that opportunity), the New Gallery, the MoMA... and I think I was extremely lucky to have such a good weather, so I wandered around in Central Park, China Town (the one in Manhattan and the one in Flushing), Brooklyn, South Ferry... I was surprised by the amount of parks and greens in the city, not only Central Park but also so many others. And although the newer scyskrapers aren't always that imaginative with regard to their architecture, I loved the ones from the beginning of the 20th century, a time which is so often decisive in the formation of the nowadys so renowned art etc. collections. Btw. food seemed rather expensive to me at the supermarket, now I understand what some of you here talked about a while ago. I mean I saw that you get much better prices at small grocery shops or in Chinatown but wow - here in Germany, the big supermarket chains have more or less the same prices in all areas, I buy not only there but the quality is definitely okay and I'd say the prices are low compared to the supermarkets I saw. Which I did, and it made me a bit more tired, and as it's nearly midnight -> hush, I'm off to bed. But it's so nice to stop by here and I hope you all have a fine evening 💓 4 2

Popular Post Brayon Posted November 5, 2018 Popular Post Posted November 5, 2018 Mental break... If I see another Subject/Verb fragment, run-on, sentence I think I will punch something. While I like the fact I'm getting a refresher, this is the stuff I struggle with. 4 2
