I've been mixing mine by putting a couple of tablespoons of cold water in a glass with the coffee and sweetner.. the coffee dissolves okay in the cold water.. then i add skim milk and a drop of 2% evap milk and ice cubes. The Nescafé Gold Espresso mixes okay in cold water, but I find Nescafé Gold regular coffee doesn’t - bits of flakes float in the glass - so I use a bit of warm water with that one as well. 3

I mentioned doing it in a mug, because I accidentally used water that was too hot - not boiling, mind you - and mixing the coffee right in the glass (which had a thick base) resulted in a pinhole crack and leak. Bye, bye glass. Oops... 1 2 1

That’s me: “crash, bang, boom, look out here comes the Aries.” This quote I heard when I was 9 years old. It was in a zodiac sign book a friend of my brother had. Why he had such a book, I do not know, but I’ve always remembered this bit. Edited June 27, 2020 by Reader1810 5

One time I was separating two stacked drinking glasses, and one of them shattered as they came apart. To this day, I have no idea why that happened. Edit: Forgot to add, they did seem a little stuck together, but still. Edited June 28, 2020 by Reader1810 3

Site Moderator Reader1810 Posted June 28, 2020 Site Moderator Posted June 28, 2020 (edited) What was that I was saying about no fireworks going off? Oh yeah, they weren’t. Guess what? I was wrong, because some were set off last night, and some are being set right now. Oh well, at least they did it before I was in bed, because I remember one year a numbskull set some off around 12:30 a.m. *sigh* Edited June 28, 2020 by Reader1810 1 1 3

You may want to look at investing in a white noise machine (or if you can tolerate a fan on do that). Honestly I used to wake up at bangs/booms and storms but now with my white noise drowning it out I don't. It was hard to get used to at first. I had to gradually increase the sound level. But I don't wake up randomly in the night now at outside noises 6
Popular Post kbois Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 I've been having a hard time lately trying to stay positive. I know that a lot of it has to do with what is going on in the world. The past ten months have been a struggle really. I've thought about what I can do to help me build a more positive attitude. One nice thing about forums such as this is that you get to 'meet' people that you might not cross paths with otherwise. You also form a mental picture in your mind of how you perceive these people. Everyone who posts something here has something to contribute to the well being of the group. I've noticed that it seems like it's more than just me who is having a hard time coping. No matter what anyone struggles with we all need a little random boost sometimes. I have decided that I'd like to post something that I like about each of you, a different person each day. Everyone needs a random act of kindness and this is my way of trying to brighten someone else's day. Seeing how @Mikiesboy, you started this forum, I'll start with you tim. I like your determination. You have overcome obstacles that would crush others. Even when you admit that you are battling your own fears and doubts, you are determined to do better, to be better. It's an admirable trait. I hope you have a good day. 4 5

If you find too much information is bothering you, stop looking at it. Many news sites offer a daily round up via e-mail. Pick that. tim had to do that because he was having difficulty dealing with the amount of information. Edited June 28, 2020 by MichaelS36 4 5
Popular Post Starrynight22 Posted June 28, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 I just had to come cry to my Canadian friends because based off a post a little bit back you will understand. My electric kettle just died. I'm heating up tea water in a saucepan. I almost feel like I'm in the old West and am staring at my beat up enamelware in the fire while the cows low. I'm very imaginative. Ugh guess I have to flex my Amazon muscle again this week ( my phone case broke earlier....and as I've referenced I'm butterfingered a new one had to be purchased STAT) 2 3 2 2

And people don't how much strength they have inside until they need it. My shrink tells me it's okay to quit for a day or two ... beyond that, get up, do something. Cook, bake, go back to work, then get your ass in here and talk to me. haha.. He's a funny guy and he knows me very well. Just never quit. 6 3

Site Moderator Popular Post Reader1810 Posted June 28, 2020 Site Moderator Popular Post Posted June 28, 2020 (edited) Just saw a commercial for an all organic medicinal treatment for cold sores. Um, no thanks, I’ve got my own organic treatment and it’s found in everyone’s - well most anyway - kitchen. I bring this up because we were at the cottage a couple of years - so, in the boonies - when my SiL developed a cold sore. I told her about the remedy I refer to above. She tried it, and it worked. Some of you may have heard of this, but for those who haven’t: Brew a mug of black tea then put it in the fridge to chill - or make it strong and add ice to it if you don’t want to wait for the fridge to do its thing. When it’s cold, the tea can be used as a rinse or soaked on a compress (a table napkin works well for this). That’s my two bit advice for the day. Hope it’s been a good one for you all.
