We have similar problems regarding AstraZeneca and J&J here in Ireland. Fortunately, Pfizer are promising extra supplies. When this pandemic started last year, it was expected that it would take at least two years for any vaccine to be developed and fully approved. The fact that we have a number of them already being dispensed is actually pretty amazing, when you think about it. And no need to apologise for "whining". We're always here to listen, and often it can be good to get things off your chest. Fingers crossed for the mare. I know how much she means to you. 1 4

That isn't easy, and some ended up on the floor but I picked it up and got in in her mouth. I guess I shouldn't have moved the dead kitten from the box. I'm sorry that she seems to be slowly slipping away. The downside of having animal companions is their shorter lives. It always seems we've only gotten to give them half the love we have for them before the time with them is gone. By the way I neglected to pass along greetings from the turtles in the pond to the Turtleman of Canada. I have to think of you each time I see one sunning. Something they be doing here of late. 4 1

She might be slipping away, but there's still a lot of spunk in her when it comes to me putting a paste wormer in her mouth. I wanted her to look healthy when her time comes, but I guess that was asking too much. She moves around fine, she jogs with no problem, and her appetite is great. I will try to be satisfied with that. I expect the turtles will be more visible soon. There have been local warnings of late to watch for turtles crossing the roads. 6

Our cases are increasing every day... almost 5000 today, and they expect we will be at 19,000 daily in May. We are getting half the Moderna doses we were supposed to... although Pfizer doses will increase starting in May. Apparently, a lot of cancellations are expected to happen, so I am in a wait and see mode. Still a cold and dreary day here. Cheers! 1 1 4

In March, the Irish health experts were predicting that we could reach as many as 2,000 cases per day here. But yesterday the chair of the Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group, Professor Philip Nolan, said there have been significant positive improvements ... over the last fortnight, and that “The seven-day average (is) sitting at 400 cases per day, the five day average at 358." He also went on to say “If we were at the EU average, we’d be reporting between 1,500-1,600 cases today. The public’s efforts have made an enormous difference.” Part of the improvement must be down to the fact that just about all of the over 70's have now received their first dose of vaccine, with most of those also having had their second dose (I'm expecting my second dose in about a fortnight). But I think the main reason for the improvement is due to the government not rushing to ease restrictions that were put in place in the week between Christmas and the New Year, when a sudden spike in numbers left Ireland as the worst affected country in the EU as far as numbers of new infections per million of population was concerned. The fact that we are an island may also have helped, although the fact that we have an open land border with part of the UK (Northern Ireland) doesn't help. Hopefully Ontario can get the spike in numbers under control, and the vaccine supply will improve, Gary. Edited April 16, 2021 by Marty Clarification 5 1
