Page Scrawler Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Wow. 200 Amtrak passengers were trapped on a grounded train for nearly two days. After they were bailed out, one woman just laughed "It could have been worse!" 2 1 1

He's over twenty now, too. He's so patient and such a sweetheart. They took him on the metro once to film an ad. He was cool as a cucumber the whole time. I spent a summer working with Norwegian Fjord horses. They were a lot of fun, especially to drive. 3 1 2

We got to go there a couple of times to ride the Shetland ponies, and they had two Fjord horses there as I recall... 5 1

Most horse breeds native to this part of the world are technically ponies. Like the Icelandic horse or the fjord horse. OMG I don't know how Norwegians are with the fjord horses, but here, if anyone calls a fjord horse a 'pony', the people who own them flip out. Even though they're pony size. 🙄 Icelandics are awesome too. I've never ridden one though. 5

All I have is the one on my phone, a Galaxy S3, which is seriously outdated. I bought my daughter the camera she uses the most, back when she was in college... if memory serves me, it's a Canon Rebel XS something... I remember researching one Christmas, and deciding on it, along with a macro lens... It came with two others, I think... anyway, I'm always walking, and I live in beautiful countryside... maybe I can chase some light. And take some pics of Falkor... 4 2 2

I've sat on them while someone led them, mostly. But that special gait of theirs, tölt, is a very different feeling from the gaits of other horses. 5

There's a farm that raises Icelandics near one of my BFFs. She went to a show they held there once and took some video. It was quite different from the hunter/jumper and dressage shows I used to compete in. 5

It was quite different from the hunter/jumper and dressage shows I used to compete in. When I was a kid there was a theme park near Oslo called Viking land. They put on historical (but child appropriate) plays, had actors walking around dressed in period appropriate clothing who would look at a gameboy and go, 'What sorcery is this??' Fun place. They also had horses, and you could ride them round this little track. So that's where I got to try tölt. Sadly, they closed it down sometime around 1999 in favour of expanding the next door amusement park's area for new rides. Sad, really. It was very educational. Kids learned a lot of history and mythology both there. Edited February 27, 2019 by Thorn Wilde darn typos... 2 5
