Happy Saturday gang  

Lunch at the crêperie with the Great-aunt then some shopping. Then back to the usual weekend activities: laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, batch cooking for the week.

Beautiful day here. I was cutting and clearing more brush and throwing the branches and small trees on a pile... and threw Preston (my walking stick) without realizing it. I had to search through piles of tangled brush before I found him. I think he's mad at me.

Oh, I'm glad you found him. Yeah, I'll bet he's peeved.

It's been dreay then turned wet. Fortunately the rain didn't begin until 5 minutes after I completed weeding mum's flowerbeds and put my tools away.

Crabcakes, roasted fresh asparagus spears, roatsed new potatoes and chocolate brownies. I started Mum's Mother's Day early. We'll have the remaining crab and pan seared asparagus tossed with gemelli pasta tomorrow evening.

I invited my in-laws for dinner. Red braised beef, with white rice and Bok Choy. For dessert, strawberry cream cake.

And for dessert we had Cherry Compote!

That looks yummy. Bok choy has been my go-to veggie this year - very affordable here and easy to prepare. I steam it with a little garlic, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar.

All this yummy food today. I found a recipe for the chicken I may try soon. I'm re-reading the 'Love on the Rocks' series, and there's so much gourmet cooking there (and lots of Aussie dishes I have to look up...). I should try fancier cooking occasionally. Tonight was leftover baked salmon and white rice - nothing special - lemon, salt, pepper.
