Hmm, its not looking good. This quickie, flash in the pan, one off story, has ballooned into multiple chapters, maybe even as high as eleven. I don't think I can get it ready by Christmas.

I forgot to say the title, Another Christmas In Glacier Bay. Last time I posted a christmas story in June, I was hoping to post this one at Christmas. FML

Find a good breaking point and make it book 1. Then you’re ahead of the game for book 2 next Christmas!

I should just put it aside until next year. I don't have a lot of time to work on it before Christmas. But I can't stop writing it, I have to go along for the ride.

Thus far, I am around 65K words. I think I'm going to go for broke and start posting it December 1st. It might carry me into the posting schedule for Tyler's Dilemma. At least there will be something for the few dozen people who like to read my silly stories over the next few months.

It's now called Frosted Hearts (I think, I've changed the name multiple times) and is set in PineCrest, a winter cottage for Percy Adam's family. Percy and Five arrive at the cabin a month before Christmas to oversee repairs before the rest of the family arrives. Over the summer, Percy and Five began a game of gay chicken that left Percy feeling conflicted. Now, with a month literally in the middle of nowhere, can the two of them survive the game or will it complicate Percy's life on the eve of his dream becoming a reality.

Frosted Hearts begins posting on December 1st, in my second annual Christmas in Glacier Bay.

So my Christmas story is out of control. It's not a short story anymore, it's now a full blown novel. The prologue ballooned into seven chapters, which should be its own story as it's set in the summer. I might not include that at all. But I have to post my first chapter today and I don't know what to do.

I've barely had time to re-write and edit it. So more than likely, all the things I don't like I'll just edit out later. I'm going to use this as an exercise. To write a complete novel length story in two months.

Two experimental stories in a row, I'm must be losing my mind.

Go big or go home.  I started a fanfic the other day. My first one. It was to be a weird little thing that I’d maybe post here now it’s a friggen 3 book trilogy minimum because of one little change to details lol.

Lets see if I can stick to a plot outline or if I loose interest by the third chapter.

I seemed to have taken your advice. The challenge, write a novel in two months. First one posted yesterday.

I’ve taken y’all’s and started my first third person narrative. It feels all wrong but I’m trying.

It’s definitely possible. I wrote ‘Don’t Blame the Band’ in just under two months, posting as I went. 115,125 words.

Yes!  Come join the fun of third person. I wrote a first person in part because of you. It sucked, but. I did it. Now I can't wait to see how much better you did than I could hope to achieve.

And now my competitive side kicked in and I'm pushing for 115,126 words in two months. :)

Go for it. I can try to figure out how many words I wrote while I was posting 2 or 3 stories at a time, but that might scare you.

Hah do it. I’ll still be cheering for “B is for Brandon” though! 😂

He is a fun character to write, so many layers to play in, I love that he can say whatever he wants and does not have a filter.

So back in June of this year, I read an old story I wrote some twenty-five years ago. It was about twenty chapters. A few months back I decided to re-write the story. I didn't become obsessed like I normally would, but I kept at it. I just finished chapter nineteen last night. I think after Frosted Hearts, I'm going to post that one as I put the finishing touches on Tyler's Dilemma.

PS: The fabulous one is not to be feared.

I don't have it in me to do massive rewrites of anything, definitely not a story of any significant length. That's why my very roughly written first three to four stories are still as they are.

Were you surprised by anything about the story you wrote 25 years ago? Sometimes when I grit my teeth and read old works of my own writing I come across passages of dialog or something in a paragraph and I am surprised by how my mind apparently functioned at the time...

I still have stuff I wrote from 25 years ago. One of them inspired Encrypted, the others just made me cringe.

I’ve got stuff on nifty I wrote under a different name that I swear to god I’ll never admit to. And I’ll full on voodoo curse anyone who finds it and tries to get me to own up to it. 😂

It was a difficult time, I’ll leave it at that lmao.

So last night, I decided to throw my staff a small Christmas party after work. I had thought it would be an hour or so, I'd show my appreciation and be home by eleven.

Welp, about an hour into the event, someone decided we all should do a shot. They grabbed a bottle of Yellowstone and about twenty minutes later the bottle was empty.

Then I pulled out a bottle of absinthe, about an hour that was gone.

I did not get home by eleven.

So I just opened our restaurant, a group of guys ordered, I happened to be the one that delivered the food.

As I gave them their chicken wings, I asked the group, and I quote, would you like Ranchup? That's right, I combined the words Ranch and ketchup into a single word.

So I get drunk, become extremely hungover, and I still manage to invent new words. What did you do today?

At some point I need to visit this little eatery of yours. The vibe seems interesting. 😂

But not today, I'm not at my best. This entire restaurant is hungover. Luckily, most of the offices are closed today so I am not expecting it to be busy. But I've been wrong before.

That’s how you know it’s a good place. If the staff managed to get trashed with the boss the night before and still show up with massive hangovers that’s dedication lmao.

todays theme is probably “just do the best you can.”

Three of my cooks have been with me over ten years. Most of the others over two years. I don't have a huge turnover. Mostly with the college kids in the front, they come and go every six months or so. But my cooks seem to like working for me.

I think todays theme is "please just don't throw up" :P
