Most series tend not to dip into polyamory or non-traditional romantic entanglements.  I saw one I could stand but it the series was a 7 out of 10 at best.

The one series that was actually really good, and could have gone this route (Only Friends) decided to go with more traditional couples and ruined the entire series into forcing these toxic characters into this pseudo happy ending.

What's the main or key difference between eastern stories and their western counterparts?

Not naughty, practical -_- ;)

Apologies.  Three are ok, but according to my sources, four means a party. :whistle:Fourfriends.jpg.a8508175abe1771a3cb7fd62ae6bf6bf.jpg

Mostly just the little cultural quirks.  Social hierarchy (things that would be absolutely ridiculous to westerners).

Another thing I believe you've spoken about is the "family business". An adult child is expected to take over ownership of the company from their parent. As if shared DNA somehow makes you qualified to manage a multimillion-dollar firm.

It's mostly the more affluent characters that do this, but it always seems to show up, even if it's not stated.

One series that I really enjoyed, had one of the main characters living away from home and going to college while he and his best friend ran a bar.

The kid came from money, so you could read between the lines that sure helped these college kids run a bar while going to school.

Anyway, later on in the series the kid's father suffers a minor injury, but his mother calls him like his dad is on his deathbed and he jumps on a plane to Hong Kong.  While they are there visiting (and the father scolds the mother for being so overly dramatic) the father just happened to have a big meeting with future investors (blah, blah, blah) and the mother insists that the father's injured arm totally prevents him from going to the meeting, but oh look our son just happens to be here and will fill in.  They subtly say his time to step up has come.

Keep in mind, he still has his own business to run.  But a few times later this young man suddenly has to go to out of town meetings with his dad for the remainder of the series.
