I liked it i cant wait till there is more... it kinda weirded me out a little about oliver though. am i the only one who thought this. and if i were Frank i would be totally weirded out by oliver and i would get the f*ck out of there. Anyway i think that when the witch hit him with the rock that it was cursed or something and gave him the other side of himself... but that is just my speculation...

ANYWAY!!! praises to dom for another soon to be great story... the only thing though is that i like first person stories better... but this one works from this pov because we dont need to know what Oliver is thinking.... ANYWAY :worship::2thumbs: I LOVE IT!!!

Sounds like it's going to be a sweet story, Dom.

What a way for the old cow to die! I don't like cats. I find them so menacing. Sorry, Kitty. I have a friend whose family room rug just reeks of cat urine. He uses a whole bottle of Febreeze when he has anyone over, well, except for me that is.

I'm liking David already. :boy:

Yes, I agree with Oliver. Chickens that lay brown eggs are magic. How else do you explain it? :P

Dom, you have nothjing to be nervous about. As usual with your stories one chapter and I'm sucked in. Looking forward to the weekend.

Sorry, gotta disagree w/Conner. I'm not liking David, esp with that last scene. Oliver needs to be able to speak for himself and if he can't with his parents, of all people, how can he with others. David being there to stick up for Oliver just inhibits Oliver from learning to do it on his own.

I have a theory about that... It's kind of off-the-wall (what, a nutty theory from me? Who woulda thunk it?)

I think that David and Oliver are the same person, a person with two seperate personalities. Hence, "the other side of me". It would certainly explain the aforementioned scene. It would also explain why Oliver was unsurprised to find David waiting behind the door in his room (a reflection in a mirror.)

OK, I know there are differences in appearance mentioned (such as the scar) but I still have this hunch.

BTW, this looks like a great story! I can't recall seeing Dom Luka write in the third person before, plus this seems far different in a lot of ways. :2thumbs:

I agree with the GoatMan, David is the voice inside the head - which comes out at times of stress and Oliver is the 'sane' voice.

It reminds me a little of a story on CRV boy by Kit called 'Tapping'

Excellent theory CJ, the two seperate personalities was my impression also.

Great start, Dom. I'm very curious to see where this one goes. :2thumbs:

I loved it.

But yeah, I have the samee theory. David and Oliver are the same person. The real David was probably in the accident too, or something like that.. you can tell there really was a brother though cause thereare 2 beds in Oliver's room. my theory began after his dad came in and asked "ready for dinner, kiddo?" as if David wasn't there.

But omg! this is gonna be soo awesome!!!

Wow, this story is very 'different', my first thought when I read it - weird...but weird good :2thumbs:

Will Frank be nice to Oliver out of guilt at first? And even if they become one-on-one friends, Frank is new to the area and will be trying to make other new friends. What happens when those possible new friends find out he's hanging out with Oliver? Will they label him a 'freak' too?

Lot's of uncomfortable situations coming up.

Is this going to be a story about love & friendship? or just friendship?

I'm hooked :great:

I'm very impressed. This is quite different from Dom's previous stories, and it's a nice change. Even though writing in the third-person narrative is "new" to Dom, it flows nicely and he seems just as comfortable writing in the third-person as the first-person. I agree with C James' theory from the Sneak Peaks forum that Oliver and David are the same person, a split personality. I can't wait to read more! :2thumbs:

Yup - totally agree, and came up with the thought at the same point when the dad came to call him for dinner.

As to the two beds - I don't think there ever was a David physically, but once he started manifesting himself stronger, he probably refused to go to bed ("That's Oliver's bed") and to deal with it, his parents bought a 2nd bed. I loved Dom's detail on the return mentioning how David's bed was always made. And the details about the pictures - Oliver can't take a good one, so David takes over, takes a good one, and it is in the stack of pics that Oliver is looking through - all great elements of the story so far.

But I also repeat what I said earlier (heh - and that I phrased carefully to not give things away too early) - Oliver needs to learn to do things on his own and not depend on David to speak up for him. Though - with how ... scared/pensive/wussy his parents initially seem to be, it's gonna be interesting to see where Dom takes this story.

PS While we're focused on Oliver/David - I also wonder about Frank's situation. What happened to cause them to move to such a remote place, with 1/2 the square footage. Did the dad die? Run off? Get taken for a familiar by Jarred (oops - wrong story).... This is a great start to a very interesting story.

ima domaholic again.....................xD

third person stories weirds me out put me off. but i didnt notice this was third person when i started reading it lol. so i got intriguied and kept reading. and i love/relate to all the weirdness and craziness of the story. X_x

i agree with every one that oliver and david are the same person. but i think there was a real david at some point and was the one who died in that fall and the scars on olivers are self inflicted or caused by a cat. >_> cause yea cats can be mean. ooo or maybe david tried to take the attacking cat of oliver and the cat caused him to fall out the window cause the cat was crazy. ooo or maybe he attacked one of the cats cause he was mad about his bro dying and the other cats came to the cats resuce. and i feel bad for the old lady. i think she died on purpose.

well obviously its a gay theme story lol. soo im guessing frank came out or was outed to his father and he didnt take it too well. and his mom didnt agree with his father and left him taking his sister and him to live ina house half the size of their old one and probaby a jillion times crapier cause of finacial issue.

now i got the urge to go read the 3 chapters of wt i missed... lol

Upon second reading, I predict that Oliver and David are the same person.

Asleep at the switch....again.

The only question I have right now is what role will the magic chicken play???

YAY another story! :2thumbs:

I love stories with characters who have "non-standard" personalities. :great: (The Zot's Yankee is another good one.)

I'm wondering if there is more to Oliver's trauma than we have been lead to believe. Dissociative disorders typically result from an extreme emotional trauma rather than physical injury to the brain. Was there once a real twin? If so, what happened to him? How was Oliver involved? Did he really fall or is that what he was told to disguise what really happened? Did Oliver fall on the real David and kill him? Did the real David (if there was one) push Oliver out the window and have to be sent away?

I see the whole David/Oliver being the same person thing. But this quote intrigues me:

Hi everybody.

I didnt read a lot of Dom stories, but I was caught, definitively  The atmosphere, the description of the nature, the tension in the mood of Frank. A few words... and I live there in the woods, cross the lake..... I agree with the other posts. Its a mistery, and I cannt wait for the next chapters. For those who speak french, there is in the french litterature a novel "Le grand Maulnes" which is very famous, with the same light and dark shadows. When you begin reading, you cannt quit. Its the same here. Reading Dom is fun. Each word has his importance. Dom, you found a new fan. :great:

Very intriguing. Great atmosphere. Where's the reason for being nervous? :worship:

But I agree with Trebs, I don't like David's personality.

I'll be certainly waiting with impatience for next chapters - lots of questions need to be answered:

- parents - what are they doing to push David away - perhaps they are the reason for his existence, not the mentioned fall; why they're keeping their son in house and following so closely - I mean, why isn't he treated;

- David - what's with the scar on his forehead, why did Dom give him such visible distinction, and in connection with Ms. Grover, which leads to next question,

- Ms. Grover - did David had anything to do with her rather unusual departure?

Or am I entirely off course, my dislike for David is blinding everything and I'm seeing potential thrillers where there aren't any?
