    Chapter 8: Waiting

As a mom I know what you mean. The pain you feel when your child is sick and you can't do anything about it is overwhelming at times. I really pulled on that emotion to write this chapter. While hard to read (PK )it was essential.

    Chapter 7: The Cure

What?? Do I have to torture the characters? Can't things just fall into place? *pouty face* I wanna have a happy story! LOL Bashta is definitely the focus of this story, his journey of emotions through the different things he experiences.
  3. LOL! Yes!! From sex in the hot, teamy jungle to panic at the airport. I gave hints that the primitive nature that Bashta lived in was not the 'state of things' elsewhere but I really wanted the first part of the story to have a very fantasy feel with them in a 'world apart' as it were. The Amazon jungle fit quite well for that, considering the vast unknown areas concealed in it's heart.

    Chapter 5: The Temple

Thank you! The picture is what started this whole story in my head. I just had to create black jaguars to go with the image and the Carthera world allowed me the subtle shades of magic as well as the modern world to bring it to life! I'm glad you liked it.

    Chapter 4: Heated

Duh Duh Duh... The axe is poised, waiting, hovering, slipping, slipping... Maybe! I needed to end this chapter with a shift in the emotions from the impact I hoped to create with the plague. Glad to know it worked.
  6. Strength when you're on your own to survive requires the ability to be alone and handle the pressures of life by yourself. For anyone in that situation, allowing someone in to take some of that burden from your shoulders is hard, sometimes the hardest thing you can do. Caring for someone and letting them know creates vulnerability, by comparison despising someone is easy. Oh, and Bashta being bitchy yeah, he's a sassy pants.
  7. Yeppers! Bashta is sassy and savvy all in one, yet strangely vulnerable on a whole other level. He's one of my favorite characters as well!
  8. I'm not sure either! Luckily you have 8 more chapters to read I hope you enjoy them!! And while Glory definitely is similar in a few superficial areas he is in no way 'stolen' from my Carthera hot cats Never fear, he's one of a kind!!
  9. LOL. As if you didn't point out to me that Bashta needed to stay behind and that I wasn't giving his protective instincts free reign! Seriously, you were right, Bashta would never have left Merilyn alone. I think the kitlings definitely are what he missed the most, losing his own littermates. I see many happy times in the future for Bashta, perhaps he'll work in the Community Center since he's not exactly prepared for the modern world's job market. Hmm... future story material maybe? Cavel is... impatient, lol. He always has been. Very dominant of him, he knows what he wants and he makes sure he gets it. Bashta just might surprise him
  10. "Cavel!" Saulle came running out of the back door of the community center. "Dr. Waddel is on the phone." He was panting with his mouth open, looking at Bashta and Cavel anxiously. "Did he say anything?" Bashta scrambled off Cavel's lap and they both began hurrying toward the center. "No, I uh... I didn't wait to find out." Saulle flushed. "I just dropped the phone and ran to find you." Cavel snorted and shook his head; Bashta smacked his arm. "Stop it. He's under a lot of strain too." S

    Chapter 1

That was a cute story. You had a few typos and you kept switching tenses between past and present but overall I really liked the story. Blake was the slightly oblivious jock and Jamie was the sweet 'I'm just waiting for you to realize how I feel' artsy type. Even though the plot has been done your story was original and well written enough to make me go awww and smile at the end.
  13. This is something that's being discussed. However, right now there isn't any GA owner/admin guys controlled fiction sites for ng stories. However, if you go to a few of the publisher's websites you can find a mix of free story ebook downloads, some of which are quite good that are gay, straight, in between and mixes. I'm a member at allromanceebooks.com and I actually have a short story published in one of their free e-books from a contest I was in on the site last fall. They have a lot of free reads available. A few sites similar to GA that host a variety of stories are writing.com, fictionpress.com, fanfiction.net (if you like those sorts of stories) Smashwords has free and pay to read stories. If you like romance stuff, this website points to a ton of others, Road to Romance. Hope you find some of what you are looking for.
  14. I'm a mix. I use both cursive and print letters as I write by hand. My daughter (7) already likes to play at writing cursive so she will not be adverse to learning.
  15. People watching is always intriguing, no matter where you do it. In this case you were able to access more of the stories than stranger watching but you didn't need to make as much up to account for it. You know, I've seen a lot of stories and some movies that detail people's time spent in locked wards but they so rarely offer up that side of it, when things go south. It is scary. It sounds like you might have some fascinating observations in your notebooks. Hold on to them. Who knows what might come of it. Good luck in your other writing, btw, I just caught up on your blogs. btw, I had to laugh about your filbert orchard title. I always say my children and driving me to the pistaschio farm.
  16. I just caught this. I know we've talked on and off since you joined about relationships, past and present. I agree with Nephy, you just deserve to have this again. I truly hope things work out, it sounds like you are both prepared to make the effort to be happy. Good luck hun.
  17. Whoopsie. I missed it due to Easter 'DO NOT GA' command Sorryz!!! Happy Birthday!!!
  18. The Do Over's were the first thing I thought of when I read your 'likes' It has the time travel, slight historical period vibe, government conspiracy and light sci-fish tendencies. I found them enjoyable.

    Chapter 8: Waiting

Yes it's sad. I did want the visceral reaction to the kitlings being so ill; it was necessary, I think. The whole trip through the jungle was to find a cure for them but their plight was very abstract. This was intending to bring it home so to speak. Their hope was an instant cure of some sort and that just isn't happening, as magical as the Jaguar is, obviously he can't go against certain things. Bashta is both vulnerable and strong, thankfully he has a mate to help him when he needs the comfort he is so desperately trying to give to others. As for your 'now make us happy soon' LOL. I shall endeavor to do my best. Maybe. Soon. Ish.

Well, that's an interesting review. Umm... sorry?

    Chapter 8: Waiting

Bashta's nose wrinkled as soon as he walked through the glass doors into the large community center. The smells of illness were overwhelming; stale sweat, vomit, diarrhea were all masked by a thick stink of pervading fear. To the sensitive nose of a transformed Carthera it was all but overwhelming. He could hear piteous cries and moans from the stricken kitlings as well as quiet sobs of their watching parents. Pain, in all its forms, was stalking the Carthera of the Jaguar clan. He flinched w
  22. I was one of the folks hit with a request right off when he had only 2 friends. My reaction was to ask one person who it was and then be really vocal in asking others when I noticed more and more GA people accepting it. I'm paranoid, not because my pics are on there, or even that I am on the site very often but because it does have my hometown and current town. I have kids, I protect them above all and that means protecting my info from people I don't know and trust. Those who are on my facebook are trusted, those who aren't... sorry. We might get there eventually
  23. I see bare knee and boxers. Naughty!
  24. The emotions in this one seesaw back and forth so much. You really capture that with this chapter. I like that Charlie came to the realization on his own and then made sure to give Tina the truth. He may seem weak in some ways but he really is very strong. And c'mon... he can find Mr. Reed. He's got his name and that he's a bookstore owner. In the world of the internet he just needs a bit of ingenuity and drive to find him, even before that it wouldn't be too hard. How are they going to meet up again? I know they will. Don't make us hurt you. Bring back Mr. Reed!!!
  25. I really view this story as a character tale. That makes these sorts of chapters vital. We need to know how the characters act and why they do so. Charlie's a baker when stressed, it helps him relax. I do that too so it helped me relate to him. I found it interesting he 'felt' more of a reaction to Mr. Scott than he did when thinking of Tina. Did you write it that way on purpose or was it just the way he seemed in your head?
