Genres are the basic type of stories, like Fantasy, Romance, Drama, or my favorite Science Fiction. The tags are used to tell the reader what the content is. When we post a story, there are several steps, and step 4(or 5) is story tags and for stories, they are predefined. We can check off up to 6 different tags for our stories. Myr once posted this link, that lists all the tags, both alphabetically and by usage: https://www.gayauthors.org/storyoptions/storytags/ . Hope that helps.

Cool, thanks.

I would normally agree with you. Even in the GLBT community, we're a bunch of cliquey bitches, with some out to hurt others. Even here on GA. I do not know who it was that prompted JayT to post this topic. If this person was a "normal" member w/o an Author/Editor/Poet tag, I would agree with you. If it was anyone else, I would say it's signaling to their friends for Blackballing.

I honestly never thought about this. Thanks for letting us know, jp. On some of my older postings, there is a solid line for a break. Is that ok with the reader, or should we avoid it?

Awesome!

Done, Moderated, Posted, and Link sent to Cia. Now waiting for publication with everyone else's. Now, I think I might do a Second Forbidden Love story.... this time, one that doesn't need GA approval.

It seems the majority feels Shapeshifter is more appropriate. Cool.

Nowhere near finished, and it has two spin-off single chapter stories as part of a series. I've worked on the next chapter, some, but I've been focusing on another project that has more active readership. I remember, and that scene is partially done. Well, actually there's two versions of the said scene. One that I can post directly on Nifty, as it's more straight-up porn and the other is more written for an on-going story. Both versions are not 100% yet.

Science Fantasy story about Humans venturing into space, and running into another race that uses Magitech. It's one of my Ongoing projects, but I have a lot invested in it. Kinda-sorta stopped posting because of lack of interest from Readers. It's SciFi...

Depending on who the Author/Reader is, they might be trying to signal their friends to do the same. A form of blackballing. Also, had someone post a comment, in my Aeris - Guardian Force story that they were getting off the bus because, paraphrasing, "I mixed magic with technology." I kindly thanked him for reading and reminded him the next story he wanted to read, that "the bus" had a "route map" at the beginning of the story, in which he could tell where it would go.

The coach swayed along the cobbled track, in time with the clop-clop-clop of the horses pulling it. It was a stately coach, with velvet lined padded walls, and leather bench seats. Potpourri sachets were strung onto the roof, to give the coach a pleasant scent of rose petals. Light streamed in through the two windows on the doors. The two occupants sat together, holding onto each other as they swayed with the coach. Everyone in the kingdom knew them. They were the sons of the Archduke. “I l

The origin, of the way I heard it, was a Car Dealership here in Tampa. They had TV ad spots, of a lady Swimwear Model, scantily clad, standing next to an Exotic Car, saying the phrase. Trying to get the Mid-life crisisers to come, and blow a wad of cash on a new car.

Bottom of the first page. It's still there....

I agree with all your points, miss molly. Boys can be strange. Also, as the saying goes: "The only difference between Men and Boys is the size of their Toys."

Excellent poem. Insightful.

Alright, cool. I just wanted to check, so I didn't mess up anything when trying to post a story via one over the other.

I was snickering from start to finish!

Recently, I've been using Google Chrome to browse the Internet, mainly so I can use the program All in One Messenger. While surfing GA I've noticed there is a distinct difference between Chrome and Firefox. From the way, fonts look, to even some notification functionality. I know this is pretty much out of GA's control on how browsers interact with the site. So with that said, what is the GA's staff recommendation of a Web Browser for GA? Is there one we should use over the other, especially as an Author, when posting Stories and Forum Topics to the site?

From Battlestar Galactica the revisioned series: What do you hear? Nothing but the Rain. The origin of this was a writer's attempt at a military-style cadence. It means nothing. Later in the series, Starbuck yells out "Nothing but the rain," after she nails a Cylone Raider and pieces of the ship hit her canopy. People falsely attribute it to that.

I recently watched a vlog on running sessions for Role-Playing games and setting the stage, that correlates with the above advice. One thing I'm thinking about doing, in my writing, using what @Comicality said, and the blog, is when setting the stage, giving the readers at least 3 pieces of information to help with it. 1. What they see. 2. What they hear. 3. What sort of sensations they feel. You could add smell to the list, to try an engage all their senses in your writing.

This I have to disagree with. In some cases, having a Fantasy critter being nonstandard can make the story more interesting. I just recently was involved with a story, where the main baddie was a Female Elven Druid that became a Vampire. When she went to ground to hibernate for a few years, her nature-based magic merged her vampiric self with the land around her. Still an undead Vamp, but all her abilities were plant-based. Was truly an epic bad guy. Now, not all changes are good. Like Vampires that sparkle in the sunlight, and just stare at you until you go out with them.

The Last Herald-Mage Trilogy by Mercedes Lackey
Brayon commented on Myr's blog entry in Myr's Corner
Thank you for introducing me to this book, Myr. I'm always looking for some good SciFi or Fantasy books. -
Yeah, I spotted it after I posted. LOL. Essentially the same thing.

So, just to be clear: All areas of GA, outside of Stories and Private Clubs, is to be rated PG-13. (Using American Movie Ratings.) Don't use Symbols for words. Spicy Language is allowed in Stories, as long as it's rated Mature, and then it's Reader Caveat Emptor*. Good... No one is taking my Fracking away.... Especially seeing as it's the name of the process used to crack rocks in oil and natural gas drilling. Overall, I agree with the policy and hope this helps GA flourish. EDIT: *According to the Wiki, it should be Caveat Lector. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caveat_emptor#Caveat_lector
