  1. Sounds interesting! Just for the love that is all holy, do not, DO NOT, have them sparkle.
  2. *starts polishing the slugger...* Strike that... I'm upgrading to a Hockey Stick.
  3. Mine are back as well, @A.J. Thank you very much for your hard work.
  4. Not sure if this is related to the Reputation Count thread, but a couple of others and myself have noticed that all chapter reactions have disappeared. Some of my stories do have them, but only from the last 12 hours or so. I know they are not fully gone, as the total for my Reputation is where it should be (after the Author left, and deleted their account).
  5. 614 is calling me this week!
  6. As someone that just finished binge watching B5, I wholeheartedly concur. This one too.
  7. *coughs* The Life of a Capsuleer: An Eve Online Story *coughs* I've written some FanFic in the past, and the more recently the above named story. It depends on the original source for me, if I'll read it though. There is some that I won't go near, because I hate the original source. I find the use of Dungeons and Dragons pre-made campaign worlds to be easy to write stories in.
  8. edging... LOL. I love your word usage. It makes sense, in serial posting, it almost like having sex with the reader.

    Coming Home

Thanks for reading Sam. Chronologically, its before Aeris - Guardian Force, but it was written after it started. You'll have more understanding about this story, once you get in the other story to Act 2 - Part 3.
  10. Thank you very much for reading the story, and leaving all these comments. It's truly appreciated. I'm working on the next chapter for Aeris, and Half-Elf Warlock at the same time. Depends on which one is speaking to me. But, it will be posted soon.
  11. Have I mentioned lately, just how much I loath the guy? Thanks for reading!
  12. Yes. He's out of the picture, as far as Aeris is concerned. Especially his love life.
  13. Yeah, red tape sucks, no matter the universe. Thanks for reading.
  14. A thank you for reading, back at you.
  15. Thanks!
  16. Thank you, for reading and I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Nah, Shane is not a good guy.
  17. How it influence me, is like this. As both a Player and DM, it allowed me to flex my imagination. To think outside of the box, and on the fly. Reacting to other players at the table, and what they do. It built teamwork, working as a team to meet challenges based on what our characters could do, with each of us doing a role. As a player, I almost always had a spellcaster of some kind. Either a Mage, Sorcerer, or Cleric. If I wasn't blasting you with spells, I was fixing you with Duct-tape, and prayers. It helped in Worldbuilding, as almost ever DM has their own world. Some take pregenerated ones, like Forgotten Realms, and made them their own. You don't like the Harpers, well you took them out. Looks of changes and revisions like that. Others would build from the ground up. Take a piece of paper, slap a dot to represent a town, and then expand from there. It allowed you to flex creativity in order to create your own world. Almost every system for RPGs focused on two main rules. Do what is fun. And tell a good story.
  18. You're welcome. I just post my opinions on things, and frankly, I've ran into times where reading a story, the POV changed so frequently, it left me confused. When I write Head-poppers, I try to make it clear who's eyes I'm seeing through.
  19. Yeah.... I totally forgot about online posting... I was thinking along the lines of a completed work, in the form of published material, with readers not able to do stuff like forums, and the like. EDIT: It's funny... we post stories online, on this site, and I totally forget about Online posting when talking about Withholding information. Ugh... I can be such a dummy at times. LOL.
  20. A fantastic short story, that brought a smile to my lips, and a tear to my eye.

  21. Just curious as to how many writers have played Role-Playing Games before. From Dungeons and Dragons, to Pathfinder, to GURPS, to White Wolf's World of Darkness, among others, have you played tabletop, pen and paper, RPGs? If so, how has it influenced you as a writer? I'll talk more in another post on my influence.
  22. There was a novel series I read, that at the opening of each arc, and the start of each chapter, had a piece of World Filler. Little tidbits of stuff, either as News Reports, or exerts from other (fake) books, or pieces of reports. It helped in making the world feel alive. I would love to do things like that more in my stories. Also, there is one other key element in World Building that should be mentioned. Keep reading other stories. Always keep reading, cause those stories influence you in ways. Like you might find a way to introduce new info in your story, from how someone else handles the same situation. Or What not to do, cause it looks wonky.
  23. Point of view is critical in my opinion, and I almost always write in Third Person, and I "head-hop" POV. Mainly, because I feel it tells a better story. Check my blog post here: It's another article that talks about 10 "Rules" that SciFi and Fantasy writers should break, and my commentary on that article. You'll find that you may already break quite a number of them.
  24. I may have been watching a certain series of movies when I wrote that first post.... *coughs*
  25. I want to add something here, after thinking my thoughts trough a bit more. Relevancy. Is the information relevant to the story? If the answer is no, then you need not mention it. There are things happening behind the scenes in both of my worlds, that most likely won't see the light of day in print. Is that withholding information that the Reader needs in order to understand the world of the story? No. It is, however, withholding information that would be interesting to just a subset of Reader, that would like to know more about your world. So, in my opinion, I can sum up my points like this: Holding Back, and Revealing later = Good Withholding because of Relevancy = Good Withholding because you can as an Author, but it's something that the Reader should know, and not guess or question about = Dick move on the part of the Author
