Over The Rainbow • Part VIII
Daddydavek commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in Over The Rainbow • Part VIII
Well done Carlos! From start to finish, I wouldn't want to change anything in this final chapter of this book. Thanks for sharing. -
In the arc of a young man's life, his parents, his siblings, his friends and his lovers and the events in their lives help shape and form his character. CJ has been through a lot, much of it wonderful, some not so much.... Every life has heartaches, reverses, or bumps in the road and a death is usually a significant one. It forces us to confront our own mortality and realize that life is a gift which we too often take for granted. "Over the Rainbow" is a well told story of such an event in CJ's life with an exquisitely bitter-sweet ending which has a profound effect. I encourage anyone who reads this review to take the time to read this story and experience the effect for themselves.

Chapter 2 - AAR (after action review)
Daddydavek commented on FSELL's story chapter in Chapter 2 - AAR (after action review)
Well told chapter which covered so much in a very fast read! Jamie has friends and ability and compassion, which is a winning combination. Kids left in cars are a nightmare and I'm with Jamie...." But really, leaving your kid locked in a car for hours or even fifteen minutes in 98°F plus? It just can end so tragically.” We had an incident here in the St. Louis area where a couple of college professors, one who was a medical doctor left their infant child in a car seat and the child died. Smart people but lousy parents! So apparently that kind of stupidity knows no sociological boundaries and it's always a tragedy. Dealing with it is hard for everyone and first responders are not immune to tragedy no matter how often they have to deal with it and have to utilize peer support providers. Thanks for sharing and for providing a little insight into that point of view. -
Anthology Flashback: Summer 2009 - Carpe Diem
Daddydavek commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
I did and just re-read and reviewed it as well. Here is a link to WARS END 1. Story -
Stop! Read Mark's story Furlough before reading this story which is more than an epilogue! This is a fitting finish to Furlough and is a fast and scintillating read! As always with Mark's stories, there is a bit of sex, a lot of love and much thought.

Anthology Flashback: Summer 2009 - Carpe Diem
Daddydavek commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Mark Arbour's Furlough is one of my favorites as well and I just re-read it. -
I can't write a review as good as Westie's chapter comment on the story, so I quote it here with attribution: Westie 844 Posted December 29, 2010 This story has a number of themes that I find often in Mark Arbour stories. We have the setting: Paris, at a turning point in history. There is a unique set of events unfolding in the world around the characters, but at the same time the characters are not obsessed by these events. Sure they are pivotal, but they do not overtake the story. Another theme is the futility of war. Mark - as he often does - casts war as a destroyer force. He masterly crafts an atmosphere that accurately conveys the pointlesness of fighting. This story is very much a tale with the melancholy of war as its background. A final, and most powerful theme is Sex as a Healing force - both emotionally and physically. With this short story, Mark has once again shown us he is a master Wordsmith and craftsman.

There are a lot of good people, especially in small town America. Good people sometimes ignore ignorance in others which can give the impression that prejudice is acceptable. Daniel shot that down and made people realize it is not to be tolerated. I just hope the election goes okay whatever the result.

Chapter 4 Repercussions
Daddydavek commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 4 Repercussions
Jimmy is patient, persistent, philosophical, and perfect for Drake and even Drake is starting to realize how much he does for him. Preston is a damaged piece of goods that was not made better by adversity and whether he has taken it out on Drake as Dot suspects or is naturally an asshat is invenerial as a dear friend would say. Drake needs to realize that love can hurt and that if you don't take a chance on love, you end up loveless.- 89 comments

Chapter 1- Don't use Electronics when drunk
Daddydavek commented on FSELL's story chapter in Chapter 1- Don't use Electronics when drunk
Saw it was the number one story being read on site today and gave it a spin and now am looking forward to more. Good start...these guys got to learn to drink more water when drinking alcohol. -
Interesting conclusion to the chapter and not what I expected. "....and three were definitely less than receptive." Now that has me a bit worried. Hopefully, the next chapter will be out sometime this coming week!

Over The Rainbow • Part VII
Daddydavek commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in Over The Rainbow • Part VII
You done good! And had me wiping tears. And left me worried. Now I got to wait another week! -
OK they "fit" but with a 24 year age difference the relationship will have to work on several other levels to work and to show how that happens or not is a challenge...unless JD just wants to be a boy toy.
-
I call it a cliffhanger! The 7th paragraph begins talking about Daniel coming out to his department....and 58 paragraphs later we get nothing!
-
Somehow I think Klaus will give Jake what he deserves and that might involve an exquisitely painful prologue to the most intense orgasm that they ever share....That's my hope and I'm sticking to it.
-
@MJ85 I haven't heard this in ages! Thanks!

Well I'm all caught up and I have to say, Jimmy is a sweet manipulative guy in the best sense of the term. I think he knows what he wants and realizes the spark between them has real potential and is working his best to get past any objections that Drake may have and I wish him every success. Drake definitely needs someone like Jimmy in his life. That they both slept so well together tells me that they are comfortable in their skins at holding and being held. Now it's just a matter of how long our dear author decides to drag the suspense out. As far as the stuck-up snobby, self-righteous bigot, his day is coming. I noticed he tensed up when Jimmy questioned how many women he'd slept with and I'd not be surprised to learn he is currently having an affair....sometimes the apple really doesn't fall to far from the tree....

That he defeated all odds and survived so long with motor neuron disease (ALS) was an ongoing miracle. Despite that, he was able to do research and publish at such an exceptional level is astounding when he had to devote so much time and energy to just survive...

Over The Rainbow • Part VI
Daddydavek commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in Over The Rainbow • Part VI
When significant wealth is involved a pre-nup is just being responsible. Ask any family court attorney. The fact that the parental units got together and discussed it without involving CJ and Ozzie is what infuriated them. Brett is right, they raised CJ to be independent and make good decisions and they need to trust him on this. Now I have to wait another week.- 49 comments

Just what is NORMAL?
Daddydavek commented on mollyhousemouse's blog entry in Mollyhousemouse's Stash
Why I can cope with normal: In our day-to-day mundane lives, normal means getting through the things we have to do so we can have the time to do the things we want to do. It's how we manage to work 9 to 5 for almost 40 years so we can afford to retire and be comfortable. It's how we manage to get through a normal day at work hoping nothing too exciting happens otherwise we may have to stay late and miss dinner out with friends. Human beings don't want to be boring, but they want efficient routines so they can get the boring necessities done and still have time for a bit of fun or just goofing off. Unfortunately, we do not live in boring times and that reminds me of that old curse about living in interesting times.
