Cammy knew he was ‘different’, and not just in his dress sense, but he didn’t care. He knew people thought he was ‘odd’, but his mother said he was unique and that’s just what Cammy wanted to be. Pretty much everyone in the school adored him. Cammy had an enormous crush on Thorne, but Thorne didn’t seem to know he existed―until today.

Ayden worked hard to make a better life for his son; he was so close to being done with school, then he could get one good job instead of working two jobs and studying at night. Then they could move out of their tiny apartment, into a nicer place, and have a decent schedule. He just wants to give Anthony a better life, all the things a little boy wants and needs, and spend quality time with his son. Of course he'd ask Santa for a dog for Christmas.

They said his mother was a witch. They said he would go to hell like her and he did. In a way.

Potluck Theme: National Forest

Jace is a good kid, guy next door, dutiful to his mother, respected by everyone he meets. All that changes when he walks in on something that spurred him to action, an action that forces himself to look into the mirror and wonder just who he was. Malcolm Turner is very happy living in the countryside, building custom furniture and nursing his ancient and decrepit Land Rover back to life on a regular basis. The love of his life left him for the city, but back luck comes in threes, and Malcolm is about to find out what else the universe has in store for him this winter.

This short story was posted under the old eFiction and never transferred over. There it was titled 'Merchant's Gold', but I never really liked the title. So with a few tweaks, I am reposting it now. It was/is the very basic idea for a much long story I hope to one day post.
