A teenager tries to figure out how to deal with his family issues and conservative small-town thinking.

The story was inspired by Prompt #211:

You’re a closeted gay man at a company gathering, for example, a conference of some kind. The company brought in a unique kind of entertainment and you’re attracted to one of the entertainers. With their costumes, you can’t tell if they’re male or female. You decide, what the heck, and ask them to meet you later. They’re not what you expected.

Arcturus is an ancient mage who wants to die. It is his last wish after a long, weary life of service. But to die without destroying the world he must find an heir for his immense power.

Sabien is a young human who suffered the loss of everything to trolls when they burnt his city. Adopted by a kindly noble, he only wants to repay his lord’s kindness.

Neither knows it, but they might have more to do with each other than they expect.

Looking back, there were three things I shouldn’t have done that night: I shouldn’t have said yes. I shouldn’t have had that last drink. I shouldn’t have left.

Declan has some difficult things to say to Jason on the day they would have turned eighteen and brings him one last blueberry muffin. They always were Jason's favourite.

tshiro has a giant roll of inclusive pride stickers, a job at a nondescript welding shop, a tiktok account, and an agenda to combat the heteronormative status-quo of his chosen profession.
Keith has a rusty vintage motorcycle, the best uncles anyone could ask for, and a slight infatuation with a man who uses puns shamelessly and can bench press twice what Keith weighs. And now he needs a welding specialist.

Or: The one where Shiro is an out-and-proud welder and Keith is really into the terrible puns he makes.

It's not often I get inebriated. When I do, I often forget about writing. Hopefully, this collection will force me to remember. What will my drunk self talk about? Who knows...
