This is a story about the precarious balance between life and death, and love and hate. Chester is perched on a knife edge, looking back instead of forward because he has secrets... shameful ones, and he has never felt so alone. Is peace ever going to be his?

Based in the Charming universe, Once Upon a Time is a collection of short stories inspired by the storytelling card game of the same name. For each short story, I incorporated five or more story cards and one ending card that are all selected at random. Each story includes elements of fairy tales in the modern world, romance between two men and a guaranteed happily ever after. The title of each short story will be the sentence of the ending card and the story cards will be listed at the end. Enjoy!

Devon fled Wyoming as soon as he turned eighteen, leaving behind his high school love, Levi. After six years, Devon returns to his hometown. Not much has changed, except that Levi is no longer in the closet. He’s also single and living his dream—managing the local wild horse population.
