Timmy's Journal - 33. After the 30

I found I missed writing poems daily after 30 days of doing so. So I wrote this on May 1... Here it is after some cleaning up!

After the 30

The urge to write still lingers even now

After many lines, my pen desires more

Tis not my wish to ever overbore

This is a promise and I can avow

My poetry helps complete me somehow

And my words are a part of the armour

That protects my soul, and is my saviour

And it's with their strength they do me endow

My words are plain but beg to be written

I dream of writing, words, and discourses

Of these things I have always been smitten

Finishing is releasing doves from cages

Joy is writing one to its completion

And when it comes right and works, it amazes

Thanks to all of you who read my words.

I'm amazed by your rhyming skill here. Your choices are natural and so well-honed, they slide by almost unnoticed. That's awesome.

The feelings of the poem are ones I can relate to very intimately. Brilliantly well done.

Thank you, AC. I've been trying what you do, like sleeping on it and see how it works the next day. Well I had to sleep for two nights until I sorted out what wasnt working. Thank you so much. I'm glad this was relatable.

Hey tim

I hope the urge, desire, need - whatever it might be - never leaves you. I am glad your words are of benefit to you, but you are not the only one reaping the rewards of your pen.

As always, nicely done.

Thanks Reader. Your support means a lot and I'm glad to know you are liking what you read!!

Thanks again.. tim xo

God, I thought from the title it was going to be about age.

Since I'm fast approaching that milestone, I figured tim will give me some good advice. :blushing::blushing::blushing:

OK, back to reality. AC is right. Your writing comes across with such ease here. Actually you do it all the time, but we're talking about this verse.

You're always a pleasure to read, tim!

LOL Skinny!! My advice about turning 30.. don't worry about it, it doesn't matter or change you.Just keep on doing what you're doing...

Thanks for you kind words about this poem. It was actually hard work to get it like this and that kinda feels good.

Thanks buddy and just embrace 30!! (Wine helps)

Yay! A tim poem. I can totally relate to the message, buddy. This is you at your best, doing what we all love best... creating your own brand of magic, using words as spells. You have always 'amazed' me, my friend... but I will never take it for granted... well done... Cheers... Gary xo

Thanks Gary. When I first started posting poetry on GA, you kinda held up my work for others to see. I wont forget it. Thanks for reading this Gary and you kind review.

I experienced the same tug on the poetic hand you did. Unlike me you wrote about it eloquently. I loved the way you used the armour image, which got me thinking about knights and chivalry....

I know you did, Parker. Oh stop, you're poetry is brilliant all the time. When I said armour.. not knights but just my shield, my way of dealing with things.

Thanks as always, Parker. I appreciate it my friend.

I find the thought of words being your armour very interesting. At first I thought it wasn't how I viewed you and your writing, since you are often so open and honest about yourself. But then I got the idea that by being so very honest, you release some of the emotions that could in fact hurt you unless you an examine them and then hopefully dispose of them little by little. So yes, it is a kind of armour. Only you wear it sort of inside out.

Your right, I do sort of wear my armour inside out. I don't hide my feelings or myself really and sometimes that's not a good thing. Thanks for the thoughtful review...I appreciate it.

I've never been a poet. I do feel the same way about writing prose as you expressed here. It becomes both addictive and therapeutic. If I don't get the words out, they begin to fill me up and I want to explode.

That's how it feels to me.

Thanks!

Thank you Cole, for choosing to read one of my poems. I'm glad it worked for you! And I feel the same, I suppose most writers do, about the need to write. Thanks again!
