Timmy's Journal - 46. What This Poet Writes

Not really what i'd planned ..

What This Poet Writes

I dream of writing of wondrous things

Of nature’s beauty and timeless love

With poem and prose smoothly crafted

Full of perfect skies and peace’s dove

Though I desire to pen poems astounding

Causing hearts to flutter and men to swoon

But few achieve their heart’s desire

No matter how often you gaze at the moon

But me, I write of un-pretty lost things

The downtrodden, the poor and destitute

Where death is close and nightmares scary

And of suicidal addict and prostitute

So though my poems are not so smooth

With no perfect lives or sunsets fair

I hope my words will help you see

That life is a gift for all to share

hope you liked it anyway! Appreciate it!!

Wonderful, tim. Those lofty ideals are seldom real, yet there is beauty in many things, and as poets, we sometimes recognize it in unusual places. Life is often ugly and dirty and painful and cruel yet those realities have their own merit. and deserve to be immortalized in the written word. You see that, as clearly as you can see the shining moon and the fluffy clouds. Kudos... and much love and respect... Gary xoxoxo

A poem of big juxtapositions, strong images, and it's ambitious. I like all of those things, and I think you did a good job here. I like it a lot :)

Thank you AC! I am wearing a big cheesey grin right now!! I often think my words are kind of simple and naive. But I guess it is what it is. Thanks for the review and input ... as always..

You're so right, tim.

Life is big and broad and lovely and dirty and smooth and rough.

Your poems do make me appreciate life, in all its conflicting glories. Thank you for that!

(I was going to use 'juxtaposition,' but AC beat me to it, so I won't.)

Hi skinnyd .. thanks for reading this. You're right about life it is all of those things. LOL I think juxtaposition is a big enough word that you and AC could share it.. Thanks again

Yes, I liked it! Loved it, in fact. For though you write about some difficult things, you also show us the beauty, grit and grace that lies around us, if we will look for it. Here you admit only that you cannot help but tell us the truth. Wonderfully done, Tim.

Thank you Parker. The world and the people in it are capable of so much, both good and bad. Thanks for the insightful review..

Rough and un-pretty is keeps it all in balance because life is that too. You keep it real, and tell it unflinching and honest, and I greatly appreciate that...

Nicely done tim...

Thanks Def. I try to just write what i see and how it make me feel. I guess since this poem did end where i thought it would shows I can't do much else.

Thanks for your support and review. It means the world to me.

What this poet writes moves people.
It moves people to comment because the feelings are SO strong they are MUST come out. They demand to be shared.
To make themselves known.
The words move people to think. To think about their own lives. Their own loves.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Thank you Tim, thank you for sharing your gift with us.

Tim, we write what we write (that 'we' has made me smile :*) ). My latest thing has the substance of meringue and the emotional depth of a puddle but it's what I felt moved to write. I look around at other poets, wistfully sometimes, knowing that I will never be able to write as they do. It's like wanting all prose fiction to be the same – we expect that to range from the super-light to the dark, dense, or sad.

Your writing upsets me sometimes but so it should – you've had life experiences which no-one would wish for. If it helps you, write about it and so share your determination to live your life and your love as you hope. It may not make for pretty, witty verse – so what? I always read your poems with interest. (I know I'm behind with my reviews … ).

In life there are words and in words ... life.

True ... the other day i was feeling yet again like a talentless clod, when a friend said otherwise. But after me saying that's it i'm done, and him saying what he said, i was already back into my poetry folder trying to write something for someone. So what you say about life.. I can't stop doing this, writing thing, even when I try to. It always calls me back.

Thanks dugh for your support of me and my writing. I cant tell you how lucky i feel to have that from so many people here.

Never doubt your writings

nor your thinking

The best of life is all mixed in one

The best of poetry is just show them well.

So, you are as good as your poems are. Don't underestimate yourself buddy... *Hugs*

Gosh Emi, i am a terrible critic of writing, and myself. Always. I am never good enough .. and I dont see that changing, but I do truly appreciate your support and very kind words.

I write what i feel and what i see. I don't write to help me very much anymore, but I can't stop it. I have to write everyday, at least something, a poem, a bit of prose... and god help me, now a blog. We'll see where that goes. Thanks for your support, it means a lot to me.

Hey tim
While I like reading 'pretty" things because it's a nice escape, sometimes that is all it is. When you write, I know you're always thinking about what you write. Your gift is that you have the ability to make your readers stop and think about or see things in a different way. That's a good thing in my book. Oh, and you do write pretty things too. Just ask Larry!
As always, nicely done. :)

Aw thanks Reader ... Missing Larry? Well I have some ideas for Larry, Francis and Faris and James. Even have some notes. I'm trying to finish one story and then I have a fairy tale to edit.. but I try to squeeze em in...

I love that you write from the heart, tim, and from personal experiences. That's where the gritty truth can be found, and you never know - you might just touch the right people with your words, and that makes writing so worthwhile and so important. Keep on with your raw and honest approach. The genuineness will touch many. Me included. Cheers - Mac

Thank again Mac ... i appreciate it very much.
