Ravings of a Rabid Werewolf - Poetry by Wolf - 45. Back against a wall

Dark columns soar skyward,

Blocking out the late evening sun.

Ash dances through the air;

An eerie summertime blizzard.

Fire Lightning flashes,

Illuminating the dark clouds.

An ominous warning,

Of the nightmare that approaches.

Fire burns to the north,

As more smoke billows to the south.

The eastern sky glows red,

And the ocean is at our back.

I tend to write poetry based on what I see and do. It helps me remember a feeling, immortalize an event, or cope with the indescribable. Thank you for reading.

That is what poets do ... how they relate their worlds to others xo

Your poetry is vivid, and this poem particularly so. I feel the heat and the acrid smoke fills my senses. It is a fearsome thing, this fire.
