Ravings of a Rabid Werewolf - Poetry by Wolf - 48. Greenville

It was here yesterday

But now it's gone, just a wasteland

Postapocalyptic

No other words even come close

My eyes still don't believe

Walls, some flames, in the smoky haze

What used to be a town

This was their home and livelihood

Now it's all turned to ash

We tried so damn hard, all night long

Everyone gave their all

Greenville simply couldn't be saved

Guess we can't always win

On the night of August 4, 2021, the majority of the town of Greenville, California was reduced to ashes from the relentless flames of the Dixie Fire, despite the best efforts of fire crews. If you feel so inclined, The American Red Cross could use help with their Wildfilre Relief Disaster Fund. I swore I wasn’t going to write another one of these damned poems. Yeah, I’m as tired of writing about fires as my followers are probably tired of reading them. If this encourages even one donation to the American Red Cross, I guess it’s worth it.

Only tired of reading them because i wish they weren't happening. We've had them up here too. Thank you for reminding us that help is needed.

Powerful words. Only fed up of reading them because forest fires are bad in Turkey and Greece as well as USA and Canada.

I am happy to read how you feel, as it shows you have survived yet another out of control fire. You write what you feel, we will read.
