Ravings of a Rabid Werewolf - Poetry by Wolf - 27. A day in the life

I'm on vacation, but having a ball working.

A new days begins

The sun’s rest not finished

But duties await

One more sip of hot coffee

As icy morning air greets me

******

Mounting the horses

For a ride towards the dawn

Fields shrouded in grey mist,

A sliver of light greets us,

As Nature welcomes today

******

The herd is spread out

The work of the day now starts

Cattle snort and moo

We drive them across vast fields

To a new place they can feed

******

The Bull Elk stands watch

Golden Tamarack behind

Cottonwood trees near

In a blink the beast is gone

Wonder and joy consume me

******

The sun now rides low,

As The barn comes into view;

Color fills the sky.

I give you a gentle kiss,

As we walk home, hand in hand.

To tim... I had a pen and note pad in my pocket all day, writing notes and forming rough drafts.  It is more romantic than a keyboard :)

Thank you, tim.  If it hadn't been for your encouragement and the guidance of AC, I wouldn't be able to express my thoughts or happiness in this form.

Love you too!!  Hugz!

I'm glad the tamarack is still golden this late.  The cottonwood leaves are probably gone.  The yellows of that country in the fall are to die for.

Your happiness is well-deserved.  Make the most of it.

Thank you, Backwoods!  A couple groves of the Tamarack are still the beautiful gold. I'm enjoying my Christmas present early :) and the fact it's 60 degrees warmer than last Christmas. lol.

This reads like a complete day lived. That's a wonderful way to capture the sights and feelings from one sunup to sundown. Wonderful stuff, and the final poem is a real climax. It's really touching and real.

Great job!

Great job!

Thank you so much, AC.  It should read that way since it was a complete day lived :)  The hard part was narrowing it down to just a few poems.  Having fun in life and having fun on paper are two very wonderful things.
