Ravings of a Rabid Werewolf - Poetry by Wolf - 40. Past and Present

From ages past the castle's history kept,

A great palace where kings and queens slept.

Vicious battles ensued with foes opposed,

And treachery reigned king when not exposed.

Its stories tell of a mystical age,

When huge armies fought with such bitter rage.

Time and again the palace flag did change,

As nobles fell in the castle's exchange.

Still are the cannon as peace rules the land,

Stirling's history is bloody but oh so grand.

*****

To the great wheel we went to see if boats fly

As it started to turn they head for the sky

A short time it takes to spin the wheel around

For water and boat to end far from the ground

The Falkirk Wheel is a marvel of our age

But for Scotland it’s just a turn in histories page
