Finding love - 26. Chapter 26
“So just to clarify your parents took you to Emerson and left you there?” Grandpa said angrily.
“Calm down, dear,” Grandma said trying to bring Grandpa’s temper under control.
“I can’t believe they would do something like this,” Grandpa said and poof he was gone.
“This isn’t going to be good,” Grandma sighed.
“What’s going on?” I asked and my brothers and Luca were just as puzzled.
“I’ll let your grandfather explain.”
We sat in silence when Grandpa reappeared holding someone.
“I can’t fucking believe you” Grandpa said angrily, “You’re a real disgrace to the family.”
“You know Joe, you don’t control everyone,” the mystery guest said.
“Dad?” Luca said perplexed.
The man’s head snapped around and his eyes narrowed on Luca.
“Luca, what are you doing here,” he sneered.
Luca was shaking and Nathan grabbed his hand for comfort.
“Still a faggott I see,” Luca’s dad taunted.
I had never seen mom move that fast but she was there and slapped Luca’s dad so hard I swear his head spun around.
“Robert I should have known,” Mom spat and stared him down.
“Enough,” Grandma said rising from her chair. “Everyone relax; including you Robert Anthony.”
How did grandma grandpa and mom know Luca’s dad? This is getting wild. Brody grabbed my hand under the table as a sign of support and it made me smile.
An elderly lady appeared next to Grandma and I think she was a ghost.
“Robert Anthony,” the lady said in such a tone all my hair stood up. “I cannot believe what I’ve been hearing, did you really abandon your child?”
“Great-Grandma?” Luca’s dad said voice quivering.
“Yes,” the woman said and turned to Grandpa. “Joseph, thank you for bringing my great-great-great-great-great grandson into your home; please thank Emerson for me as well.”
Grandpa nodded and the woman turned her attention back to Luca’s dad.
“I am very disappointed in your behavior Robert Anthony. You’ve become a disgrace to the family. You were not raised this way and I don’t want any excuses from you, now explain why you cast your own flesh and blood out.”
“He’s gay,” Luca’s dad said and the woman’s eye’s narrowed and then she let out this loud laugh.
“Is that all Robert?” she continued to laugh.
“Who are you?” Luca asked.
“Where are my manors,” the elderly lady said, “I am Karen Woolery.”
“Great-great-Great Grandpa Jack’s sister?” I asked.
“Yes dear, I am Jack’s little sister. Now Joseph, I’ll trust you to deal with Robert.”
Grandpa nodded and Karen was gone just as fast as she arrived.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get used to your family members coming and going,” Grandma said.
“It’s all part of who our family is,” Grandpa said.
“Who exactly are we?” I asked and Nathan and Nick voiced their agreement with the question.
“First, Robert is my 4th cousin, more specifically we are related by marriage and not blood, so Nathan and Luca have nothing to worry about. So Karen is Jack’s sister and Jack’s son was married to TJ Michaels Jr. There was some family drama and clone was made of TJ. The clone was named Tristan and he is my 4th great-grandfather. Some other family drama led to TJ and Jackson adopting Tristan. While he was their son in the eyes of the law, he was more of a younger brother to TJ. They had a really close connection and Tristan was so devastated when TJ passed away that he didn’t eat for days. His husband Xander was finally able to break through and got Tristan to eat and rejoin life. TJ and Jackson’s kid saw Tristan as their brother and not uncle.”
“If we can appear as ghost why didn’t TJ?”
“Ah the million dollar question,” mom said.
“We don’t know what allows family member to be ghosts. Sometimes it’s instant and others not so much. No one has ever seen TJ or Tristan in ghost form or at least they’ve never shared it happening. There was a rumor that when Jackson passed he had a huge smile on his face and TJ’s name.”
“So I’m not related to Luca?” Nathan asked.
“Not by blood,” Grandpa said and Nathan let a big sigh.
“You know Matt, you look a lot like Tristan and TJ,” Mom said.
“I do?”
“You do,” Grandpa confirmed. “Your attachment to Noah reminded me of Tristan and Hunter. They formed a very strong bond and became in separable.”
“Why don’t you guys ever talk about them?” Nick asked.
“Our family is beyond complicated,” Mom said rolling her eyes. “Don’t get me started on how many Aunt, Uncle and cousins there are.”
“When we got married I thought your mother was inviting random people to the wedding. Turns out they were mostly cousins,” Dad said.
“Emerson is actually your cousin,” Mom said.
“Really?” Nathan exclaimed.
“Yes, Emerson’s 3rd great grandfather is the son of Tristan’s brother Josh.”
“How does that work for a clone?”
“They aren’t biologically related but they were brothers none the less.”
“Honey, they could have also been cousins,” Dad said with a smirk.
“Kissing cousins?”
“No, it’s a long story. Maybe someday someone will write about it and you can read all about it.”
“What like the stories Uncle Ron writes?” I replied causing mom to choke on her wine.
“Who told you about those,” Mom said looking at dad.
“Uncle Ron is a writer?” Nathan asked.
“Look what you did Nathaniel. I didn’t want your boys reading those stories.”
“Wait until they find out Ron and Tony are reincarnated,” Dad said with a laugh.
“What?” was the collective gasp around the room.
“TJ’s dad was raised by a couple with similar names,” he replied with a shrug.
“Is it true? The reincarnation?”
“No, it’s not true, honey,” mom said.
“You know I’m a writer,” Uncle Ted said.
“You are?” Mom said shocked. “What do you stories do you write?”
“Mainly romance, a little magic here and there and just maybe it’s based off our family.”
“Good lord,” Mom said and took a huge sip of wine.
“Where can we read your stories Uncle Ted,” Nathan asked.
“I’m not sure I want you to read them,” Mom said sternly. “You better write under a pen name.”
“Oh I do,” Uncle Ted said with a wink. “Uncle Ron’s is Ronyx.”
“Enough of the family history,” Grandpa said. “Now Robert, what to do with you.”
Thank you all for reading.
