2025 Writing Event Announcement - Comicality Tribute - Coming of Age

    By Valkyrie

May 2, 2025 would have been Comicality's fiftieth birthday.    We thought that would be a perfect day to feature a tribute to our beloved friend, author, and mentor.  We're announcing it now so that his fans will have an entire year to work on writing a story, letter, poem, or whatnot on a topic that resonates with them with respect to Comicality.  Coming of Age - A Tribute to Comicality  Due date for submissions:  April 25, 2025 No minimum length One submission per author, c

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 17 - Jul. 23)

Whew, getting this in by the hair of my chinny chin chin   Even though I'm fair haired (in the summer my hair turns strawberry blond), I know I burn, and I do everything possible besides wearing a snowsuit, touque, and ski goggles in 30 C weather, but I still am burnt to hell tonight  I mean, about a hour before I went out I took a shower and rubbed in a generous supply of SPF 30 Sport and then waited 10 mins and sprayed on SPF 50 Sport. Went down to my vehicle 5-10 mins later and put on so

All I ever wanted....July days

Vacation!! Nothing stimulates the recreative juices like a getaway.  Here we are in the middle of July with a lake beckoning, the hammock swaying gently between two trees, and a grill smoking away with barbequed delights searing and sizzling.  A cold, condensed mist trickles down the side of a glass of lemonade, or an adult beverage, and a dog-eared open book splays on your lap as the birds chirp and the squirrels wrestle.  Maybe it’s time to relax and try a new prompt!  Pull out the c

Poetry Anthologies

While the anthology is now a combination of poetry and stories, in the past, site poets participated in poetry-exclusive anthologies.  I thought I'd feature a couple of those and hopefully get some of our poets inspired to contribute to the anthology.  I know of at least a couple of poetry submissions for this year, so let's have a solid showing to honor GA's anniversary!    https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/category/37-2011-poetry-anthology-into-the-unknown/ https://gayauthor

Something We Used to do in the Seventies

I was new at school and a kid I played sports with invited me over Saturday and said, bring a couple of your favorite albums - the more obscure, the better. We love hearing new stuff. HAA! Boy could I ever do obscure. I took Can Future Days, Yes Close to the Edge and ELP Tarkus. This wasn't exactly a party. It was just a few dudes with albums showing up with chips and snacks and listening to music. It was always cool. We got to hear new stuff. I literally heard Kansas for the firs

July Classic Author Feature: Stuff People Do by Ronyx

As the year begins to turn, I thought what better than to bring a story all about changing. It's not an easy read, but it is a worthwhile one that hits you in the feels. Please check out this month's Classic Author feature, and don't forget to leave a comment.  Length: 92,791 Description: Matt Stevens is a normal sixteen-year-old. Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 10 - Jul.16)

Middle of July, so what should we talk about? What the heck, why not weather! I'm curious how things are shaping up in your neck of the woods as far as the weather goes. In my hometown, it is Stampede  week, and mother nature has so far cooperated. I don't think in the past 8 days we have had any rain. Temps have been around 30 C (86 F). This is too hot in my humble opinion. I know some areas of the world are having record breaking temps like Europe and elsewhere, so my heart goes out to th
