Weekly Wrap Up (Jun. 8 - Jun. 14)

Howdy   No, not Stampede yet, but can't say howdy without the cowboy emoji   I kind of had a blah week the past week  for me. Wasn't bad, wasn't good, but we will take it. The alternative isn't so great🪦. Sunday through Thursday it was hot and dry and you couldn't see down the street due to the smoke from all the wildfires burning across the north of Canada👨‍🚒. I haven't really looked at the US of A, but I imagine they aren't too different. I heard that there is even some some smoke fl

Author Guess Who #25

Wow! Twenty five editions of Author Guess Who...  Plenty of fun has been had, many accusatory guesses, and countless acts of finger-pointing later, and AGW is still kicking! This month is no exception. What better way to celebrate than to participate. We have another mystery author with several answers that may or may not hint at their identity. Grab your detective hats, slip on that dusty foam finger from that random basketball game you went to ten years ago, and get ready to guess this au

GA's Newest Signature Author: Mark Ponyboy Peters

Please join myself and the Author Promotion Team in congratulating Mark Ponyboy Peters as GA's newest Signature Author! @Mark Ponyboy Peters has only been a member for 13 months, but he's been posting stories on the Internet for over 20 years. I don't mind admitting he was one of the early authors whose stories I fell in love with when I first started exploring Nifty. I especially loved his Seachange series. He's still in the process of slowly posting his extensive backlog of stories, so th

Featured Story: The Jerk-Off by JLynch

June is here, and that means we get our monthly fix from our Review Team. Check out this gem brought to us by Parker:   The Jerk-Off by JLynch Reviewer: Parker Owens Status: Complete Word Count: 98,033 It’s summer.  You need a good beach read – you know, the kind of story that engages your attention so much that you wind up frying in the hot sun, and which entertains enough that you ignore the subsequent pain. GA author JLynch serves up just such a story in The Jerk-Off.

Weekly Wrap Up (May 25 - May 31)

There goes another month in the books! Can you believe you all have less than 7 months to get my Christmas Present mailed to me ? Unfortunately there might be another Canada Post strike here, so the sooner you get it in the mail, the better chance it will arrive here. This year ! I also can't believe it is still bright out at 9:40 PM my time. Dusk is like at 10:30 PM   What all did you get up to this past month, the sort of, kind of, transition month, from spring to summer? I managed t

May CSR Discussion Day: The Answer by Wayne Gray

I hope you were able to take the chance to read the 5k short story, The Answer, that  Wayne wrote back in 2020. The best part of the CSR (Can't Stop Reading) blog features is that I get to pick newer and older stories on the site to bring to readers who either loved the story the first time and are happy to read it again or newer members who might have missed some of the older works. Things are always changing so fast, just like people, but we love to keep these stories alive! Please make sure t

Weekly Wrap Up (May 18 - May 24)

I was thinking how it is funny how things have changed over the years here at GA. A certain author I know found a movie called Riley and she may have a story called Ridley and she was wondering if maybe someone took her story and made a screenplay out of it, and made the movie for profit . So being the dedicated friend that I am, I rented the movie to see the similarities. Just an FYI, this is my opinion only, not to be taken as fact. Three similarities: Both the movie and her story

Weekly Wrap Up (May 11 to May 17)

I have a weekend off from anything so I'm actually here  Thanks again to Cia to helping out the past couple of weeks.  You know what? I'm at a loss for words this week. No, I'm not drunk and/or incapacitated.  We are in our annual Victoria Day weekend in Canada, so they means we get rain and snow. No snow this year though. I decided to start on a plumbing project in my shower, and I bought some new apparatuses and thought today would be a good day to get them installed. When I bou

2025 Secret Author Story Contest-Reveal the Truth

For 2025, the Secret Author Contest theme is going to be "Reveal the Truth". Now... the only one you can reveal the truth to in real life is your beta/editor, but in the story there should be some link to the theme of revealing the truth in some way. A juicy secret that comes out, a bitter reveal that one doesn't want to believe, best friends that finally end up doing the horizontal tango and the betting pool reveals who won on how long it took them to get there? Authors, you decide how it plays

Weekly Wrap Up (May 4 - May 10)

Hellooooo! How is everybody  ? First off, can you shout out your love to Cia this week? You probably didn't notice, but she used her magic powers and went in and put in the stories of the week in last week's blog and published it  I'm hoping she will be able to help me out this week too!   This weekend, I got convinced last weekend, when I probably could claim I was not of a clear mind and not to be held responsible for anything I committed too , to do something questionable.

May CSR Feature: The Answer by Wayne Gray

This month has featured quite a few stories already, with the Comicality Tribute Anthology, and I wanted to feature someone who isn't new to the site but who did write a story that I thought would have fit right into that theme as well. We have so many coming of age stories on GA where authors tackle those life changes that aren't easy regardless of what year or setting they occur in... just like The Answer by Wayne Gray. This slightly older story is a short story gem you should read and come ba

Weekly Wrap Up (Apr. 27 to May 3)

Let's throw things in the mixer and mix things up this week . Well not mix, but let's look at a mirror image of the past week.  Now for the big news this week, that many have been waiting for. In fact there would not be any GA if it wasn't for the guy that we are holding our annual Anthology for this week. A huge thank you to all the authors that contributed this year. Without you, his memory might fade away  . Make sure you stop by, read and leave a comment or two! He will be missed,
